Reuters: Trump gets one presidential intelligence briefing a week: sources

President-elect Donald Trump is receiving an average of one presidential intelligence briefing a week, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter, far fewer than most of his recent predecessors.

Although they are not required to, presidents-elect have in the past generally welcomed the opportunity to receive the President's Daily Brief (PDB), the most highly classified and closely held document in the government, on a regular basis.

It was not immediately clear why Trump has decided not to receive the intelligence briefings available to President Barack Obama more frequently, or whether that has made any difference in his presidential preparations. Trump's spokespeople did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Trump has asked for at least one briefing, and possibly more, from intelligence agencies on specific subjects, one of the officials said. The source declined to identify what subjects interested the president-elect, but said that so far they have not included Russia or France.

Update: Trump has declined many intelligence briefings offered to him according to Senate aide (CBS)

WNU Editor: For now .... he can get away with it .... he is not the President yet. But if he does this when he is President .... it is going to raise some eyebrows.

I suspect when he is president he will be able to control the format and cut out much of the b.s. Then he will probably show more interest. Also, if not immediately, actionable, I am sure that a weekly update is more than adequate.

As I've pointed out here and elsewhere many, many times, US "Intelligence" is staffed and managed by a combination of incomptent boobs and left wing political hacks. Most of the people doing the "briefings" are going to need to be removed from their positions anyway. There reports are essentially worthless and probably have negative utility.

POTUS Elect would be better served to read and cross read the news from multiple sources and consult blogs like this one when trying to formulate policy than to take briefings from US "Intelligence."

Again, most of these prople are going to need to be sacked anyway. I'm pretty sure POTUS elect knows this and has planned accordingly. Why even take one briefing a week from such idiots? Perhaps POTUS elect needs to be entertained. We often wstch clowns to entertain ourselves.
