The Battle For Mosul Is Over

Reuters: Iraqi PM declares victory over Islamic State in Mosul

Iraq's prime minister declared victory over Islamic State in Mosul on Monday, three years after the militants seized the city and made it the stronghold of a "caliphate" they said would take over the world.

"I announce from here the end and the failure and the collapse of the terrorist state of falsehood and terrorism which the terrorist Daesh announced from Mosul," Haider al-Abadi said in a speech shown on state television, using an Arabic acronym for Islamic State.

A 100,000-strong alliance of Iraqi government units, Kurdish Peshmerga fighters and Shi'ite militias launched the offensive to recapture the northern city from the militants in October, with key air and ground support from a U.S.-led coalition.

Does anyone have any reasonably accurate casualty numbers? I want to personally guage out the battle a little better, but have accepted the fact theres probably a reason I cant find any real numbers.

Don't know for sure but I don't think precise numbers can exist yet..casualty is also quite vague. Do you mean everyone killed including civilians? There's so many mass graves still to be dug up. Let's just say too many people died for the crazy idea that God would be cool if you kill and torture gays, women and other minorities like the disabled.
I envy the soldiers who had the balls to fight in this war on the Iraqi/coalition side. A victory that they can pride themselves for eternity and we thank them.

Casualties of the parties directly involved in the fighting. Civilian casualties im going to assume are unfortunately high.
