Washington Times: Ruthless Iranian militia vows to turn against U.S. troops once Islamic State is defeated in Iraq

The U.S. military is keeping a wary eye on Iran’s most violent proxy militia in Iraq, which has vowed to start killing Americans again once the Islamic State is expelled.

With the Islamic State’s defeat in Iraq coming closer — the U.S. estimates that the once 25,000-strong terrorist group is down to a few thousand followers at most holding only pockets of resistance — the danger from the Hezbollah Brigades is fast approaching.

Said the Fars headline, “Iraqi Popular Forces Warn to Target US Forces after Defeating ISIL Terrorists.”

WNU Editor:  I suspect that many in Iraq do not want a  new war pitting U.S. forces against Iranian backed militias on their soil .... not after what has happened in the past year. And if these militias do restart such a conflict ..... I am willing to bet that there is going to be blow-back from a good segment of the Iraqi population..

Strategically, what is this? Going through with this plan leaves US with only one realistic option, engage and defeat them. Iran always has such an automatic hard line stance against the US, its stupid. They should move forward into the future as a player that contributed to peace in possibly the worst warzone in the world.

If you think Iran wants peace you do not understand Iran or the Islamic revolution or the Mullahs behind it. If Iran had the capability and the US could not retaliate the Iranians would gladly and mercilessly slay every American they could get their hands on.
