Do Russians See Themselves As Exceptional?
Gregory Carleton, The Conversation: Why Russia thinks it’s exceptional
Destiny calls upon Russia once more to face the West – or so Russians might believe.
America is not alone in projecting itself as an exceptional power and indispensable force for good in the world. Russia makes the same claim. WNU - I agree. Russia has been held back by its many confrontations with the US, and of course its internal politics and business practices/corruption and the following brain drain. The world would benefit from a peaceful Russia, and would welcome it.
WNU,
We can all be better....correction....much better.
To express your editor comment another way "it bugs me that America can be better...correction...much better."
As to the exceptional narrative, Americans have largely rejected such nonsense about themselves. To the best of my knowledge, the current POTUS never used such non sense in his campaign and has personally stayed away from it while in office.
One of his former advisors went on a rant whereby he referred to America as a "hyper power." The man, dr. Sebastian Gorka, looked and sounded like a complete and total idiot while going on this rant. He was fired soon after, as he should have been. This probably had something to do with his being fired.
