Bloomberg: Iraqi Kurds Offer to Freeze Independence Referendum Results

* Offer comes after clashes betweenn Kurds, Iraqi troops
Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government said it’s prepared to freeze the results of last month’s independence referendum, which triggered deadly clashes with government troops and hurt oil exports.
The KRG also proposed an immediate cease-fire and talks with the central government in Baghdad “on the basis of the constitution.”

WNU Editor: The Iraqi Kurds have blinked .... and for good reason. They already have a great deal of autonomy, and while I understand that they want more, the powers that be are not ready for that type of independence. The big question that remains unanswered is .... what will Baghdad do? Will they accept this offer, or will they ignore it and send in the Shiite militias precipitating another war.
