BBC: Russian President Putin signs 'foreign agent' media law
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that allows the government to list any foreign media operating in the country as a foreign agent.
The bill, in retaliation for Kremlin-backed broadcaster RT being told to register as a foreign agent in the US, was earlier approved by parliament.
At least nine US-funded broadcasters, including Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty could be hit.
RT is accused of being part of Russia's alleged meddling in the US election.
The broadcaster denies the claim.

This is just continuing the trend of Isolationism of nations in the age of the Internet. Soon Russia will copy china's great Internet firewall approach. When ideas and opinions stop being freely exchanged by nuclear armed countries, there will be trouble. China needs to revert it's course and so should the US. Russia of course wants to influence what the US does. To some extent let them. It's healthy. Equally if the west cannot reach beyond China's great firewall and China keeps ramping up its propaganda about the south china sea we will face 1.4bn people in a conflict that they believe is justified.
