The Russian Army Is Prepping For The Next Big War

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu provided details of Russia's latest snap exercise at the National Defence Control Centre in Moscow on 16 March Source: Russian MoD

Dave Majumdar, National Interest: Russia's Army Is Getting Ready for the Next Big War (Think Armata Tanks and More)

Russia’s new state armament plan, which will run from 2018 to 2027, refocuses the Kremlin’s defense spending on its ground forces.

In the previous plan, which runs from 2011 to 2020, the Kremlin had focused heavily on reviving the Russian Navy. Given Moscow’s recent experiences in Ukraine and the fact that Russia is, at the end of the day, a Eurasian land power, the shift makes sense. In more practical terms, as Center for Naval Analyses senior research scientist Dmitry Gorenburg notes, Russia’s new armored combat vehicles are now almost ready for serial production.

There comes a time when an intelligence agent should have had a taste of war.

Being more admirable than Merkel or Obama is not saying much.

All warfare is asymmetric.

Putin is tough.

Mutti, Herr Merkel, had the feminine touch.

If you hide the barriers, the elite designated epsilons will not know that people are trying to kill them.

why do you write in bumper stickers?

Freddie,

I am upset that Russia is preparing for war. I don't want one, but if one is proffered against our will, then there is nothing to do but enjoy the suck.

BTW, there was nothing factually incorrect in what I wrote.

Russia will need more then a plan for modernization. Since its economy is about as large is Australia, and it's shrinking, plus is based almost entirely on fossil fuels which will continue to be in less of a demand. They can't afford it. As a result, this is just propaganda for domestic consumption. Russia's dismal economic situation, and future forecast, makes this less of a plan and more of a wish list.

The so called "conservatives" in the US have long had a bromance with Putin,

But it's great these day's to see them during the election and even now, knowingly and actively aiding the FSS and GRU campaigns to attack and weaken the US.

"My point was not about correctness" - Fred

So the truth does not matter?

Experience Fred. Stuff I learned at Yahoo, when it was more interesting.

Don't worry I'll change it up.

I've learned from Jay also. Although his is not such a a good template. He reminds me of the North Vietnamese sniper at Khe Sanh that the marines did not bother .

(1) "There comes a time when an intelligence agent should have had a taste of war."

This one is straight forward. If a certain intel agent had been a grunt, he would not think going to war is so wonderful or so easy.

(2) "Being more admirable than Merkel or Obama is not saying much."

Saying something is > 0 is "faint praise'. That you did not know what faint praise is or did not treat n the obvious way it was meant says a lot about you. I was putting down a former intel agent.

https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/damn_with_faint_praise

(3) "All warfare is asymmetric."

That sentence is an aphorism. It is a warning. People calculate the chessboard that is the world and think they have sufficient pieces to complete their aggression, but there is always something they do not see, does not happen or comes at them sideways.

They say many wars are started on miscalculation. A person or even a fairly large group of people cannot calculate everything. So they can plan for war, but it would be much harder than they think.

(4) Jay you are not funny. Not in the least.

Jay,

Funny Russian phrases: hidden suitcases.

Let's just let people know what you said and how you think you are clever.

Trying to trip an algorithm?

Try harder Jay.
