RFE: At Least Six Killed In Suicide Blast Near Afghan National Intelligence Office
A suicide bomber blew himself up near Afghanistan's national intelligence agency compound in Kabul early on December 25, killing at least six people, security officials say.
Nusrat Rahimi, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry, said the attack took place at 7:40 a.m. at Abdul-Hak Square in the Shash Darak neighborhood of Kabul close to the entrance of the National Directorate for Security (NDS).
The U.S. Embassy and NATO headquarters are also located in the area.
"Before the suicide bomber reached his target, our brave security personal recognized and stopped him. But before they fired, the attacker detonated his bomb. Two soldiers were killed and the rest of the casualties are all civilians," Rahimi said.
