Politico: Trump hints at cutting foreign aid over U.N. vote on Jerusalem

President Donald Trump on Wednesday suggested that the U.S. could pull foreign aid from nations that vote against it at the United Nations, a warning delivered ahead of a General Assembly vote expected to criticize the Trump administration’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

“For all of these nations that take our money and then they vote against us at the Security Council or they vote against us, potentially, at the Assembly, they take hundreds of millions of dollars and even billions of dollars and then they vote against us,” Trump said at a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

Next: get UN out of NY and make the property a Trump condo city
1. fact: the UN generally votes against Israel because there are some 23 arab states voting.
2. this though is the Security Council...we will cut off aid to some allies? and continue to base our military in their nations ?
3. this is the art of the deal?
4. fact: what the UN does or does not do about the US recognizing Jerusalem as Israel capital, is the same as Lebanon not recognizing it: Jerusalem remains the capital nonetheless.
hint: pissed at fact 4? offer to sit down. Negotiate a state called Palestine, make East Jerusaelm the capital.

The US or any other country is free to move their embassy at will. If they are having tantrums they shouldn't be taking US money

We offered the aid wherever and whenever it was given, and in so doing we sought some benefit by doing that. Now you want to append conditions? Do as we want or you do not get our money?
What they are saying is that the UN had declared Jerusalem a place to be governed Not by any one nation. The reality of course is that Israel has made it its capitol. Members of the Security Council resist the American move as a violation of the UN...that is their right too.

Plowman,

There is a phrase "Bite the hand that feeds you."

So you if you give someone aid and they rip you a new one, should you give them more aid?

Or is it the fact that they will call you names after biting your hand sufficient to give them more aid?

I think people count 57 OIC states and 1 Jewish state. After such a comparison what is fair never enters into their calculus.

It is the same calculus that make them worry about European demographics and do every last thing in their power to ensure the trend continues and resulting the ending of 3 thousands years of culture, for example the Gaelic culture.

The idea is to get them to change their vote and I'll bet you a large number of them do just that.

/or we'll find if Putin really does desire to carry Egypt on his back.
