L.A. Times: Trump reportedly says U.S. Embassy will move to Jerusalem; Palestinians warn of 'dangerous consequences'
Palestinian officials said Tuesday that President Trump told Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas in a phone call that he planned to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, raising regional tensions over the timing and extent of U.S. moves regarding the fiercely contested city.
Asked later in the day whether Trump had made up his mind, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said: "The president, I would say, is pretty solid in his thinking at this point." She declined to say what he had decided, but said the president would make a statement on the policy Wednesday.
Trump has repeatedly pledged to take the highly symbolic step of relocating the embassy from Tel Aviv, which would be seen as de facto recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. The White House has not said whether Trump signed a waiver this week putting off any decision on an embassy move for at least six months, as past presidents have done, and the Palestinian statement did not say whether the president disclosed a timetable.

I guess previous UNSC resolutions and the long existing policy of keeping Jerusalem an "international zone" for the purpose of no exacerbating the situation is no longer being entertained. This will cause issues but gradualism had got Israel as far as it has since its inception and it should work now.
This will be a political disaster for US, and a roaring success for Israel. Terrible move.
Deiconik,
If or when there was a Palestinian state, would you recognize East Jerusalem as their capital?
I do not think the Muslims care. They say they do, but they are too busy killing each other and bystanders.
Whether one is for or against this sort of move, I believe it is DUMB to do while Trump familia tries to bring a peace treaty to the area for the Palestinians and Israel. Clearly this will doom any treaty
The situation cannot be "exacerbated" any more than it already is. If someone is already trying to annihilate you, you caving into him is not going to change his mind. The "Palestinians" can throw some more temper tantrums and try to carry out more blood thirsty killings against Jews. Oh wait they are doing this already any way.
When confronted with an implacable enemy, the best approach is going to be to do that which is right regardless of adverse political consequences. Team Trump has done the right thing here.
Israel is accused (falsely) of controlling or having a substantial influence over US policy. If so, it seems ironic that the POTUS who finally has agreed to move the embassy was/is an outsider who isn't beholden to Israel of whom few Jews and likely even fewer Israelis actually voted for. Oh wait, the embassy hasn't officially been moved yet. DJT is no doubt facing enormous pressure not to do so. Perhaps we should hold off on getting to excited at this point.
Falsely?
This will help negotiations.
The Palestinians will see that can't talk out of both sides of their mouths and jawbone their way to victory.

"
Ha’aretz reports that the President’s expected announcement is uniting not just the Palestinian Authority and Hamas, but all the other states in the region, as well as the EU and Russia in their opposition to his expected decision and announcement."
Snip
"Now we wait and see just how badly the US is going to shoot itself in the foot."
