Guidance for officers deployed to Israel appears to show the U.S. military providing intelligence for airstrikes in Gaza.  

Targeting intelligence — the information used to conduct airstrikes and fire long-range artillery weapons — has played a central role in Israel’s siege of Gaza. A document obtained through the Freedom of Information Act suggests that the U.S. Air Force sent officers specializing in this exact form of intelligence to Israel in late November. 

Since the start of Israel’s bombardment in retaliation for Hamas’s strike on October 7, Israel has dropped more than 29,000 bombs on the tiny Gaza Strip, according to a U.S. intelligence reportOpens in a new tab last month. Since the October 7 attack by Hamas, Biden has given the Israel administration his full support, but is reportedly now angry the prime minister keeps rejecting his proposals. 

The two last spoke on December 23, when Netanyahu rejected Biden's request that Israel release Palestinian tax revenues, and an angry Biden ended the phone call saying 'this conversation is over.'

CNN: Biden admin again bypasses Congress to sell military equipment to Israel 

The Biden administration for the second time this month has bypassed Congress to approve the transfer of nearly $150 million in military equipment to Israel amid the country’s war against Hamas. 

Secretary of State Antony Blinken informed Congress that he has made an emergency determination to immediately approve the transfer of “155mm ancillary items including fuzes, charges, and primers that make 155mm shells functional,” a State Department spokesperson said Friday. 

“Given the urgency of Israel’s defensive needs, the secretary notified Congress that he had exercised his delegated authority to determine an emergency existed necessitating the immediate approval of the transfer,” the spokesperson said.

CNN: Biden administration makes clear it has no plans to place conditions on military aid to Israel despite pressure from lawmakers  

The Biden administration currently has no plans to place conditions on the military aid it is providing to Israel, officials told CNN, despite growing calls by Democratic lawmakers and human rights organizations for the US to stop providing weapons unless Israel does more to protect civilians in Gaza. 

Speaking to Democratic donors in Washington this week, President Joe Biden acknowledged that he has had tough conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about Israel’s military campaign, how Israel is losing international support, and the need for a two-state solution led by the Palestinian Authority. 

But he said even throughout those discussions, “we’re not going to do a damn thing other than protect Israel in the process. Not a single thing.”

 (Bloomberg) -- US Army ammunition and equipment inventories aren’t yet being strained by supplying both Israel and Ukraine the Army’s top weapons buyer said Thursday, although he warned that could change as the conflicts drag on. 

“We’ve done munitions of many types, for everything from helicopters to artillery” for Israel, Douglas Bush, assistant secretary for acquisition, said at a conference in Washington. “But nothing where it was so far, at least, a direct competition with what was already planned to go to Ukraine.”

WASHINGTON — Congressional leaders are hoping to muster a supplemental package to aid the war efforts in Ukraine and Israel, as well as make improvements to the U.S. immigration system, by the end of the year, according to multiple people involved in discussions.

The ambitious timeline would mean striking a deal that satisfies the funding requested by the Department of Defense to aid conflict zones, while simultaneously crafting an immigration package that not only provides resources for border security but includes a suite of policy changes to appease conservatives without alienating progressive Democrats.

Democrats who voted against the bill stressed they still support military aid to Israel, even as several on the Armed Services Committee are starting to call for a humanitarian pause in the campaign in Gaza. Meanwhile, the Senate’s No. 2 Democrat, Dick Durbin of Illinois, became the first senator on Thursday to call for a ceasefire amid the high civilian death toll.

* The government will run out of money (again) in roughly two weeks, requiring Congress to act (again). 

* According to Democrats and GOP Neocons such as Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham, America needs to send billions of taxpayer funds to both Israel and Ukraine, and won't consider any legislation that doesn't combine the two. 

* House Republicans under newly minted Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), as well as a group of Senate Republicans, want Israel aid separated from Ukraine aid, while the Biden White House wants to jam a $105 billion foreign aid package ($14B to Israel, $60B to Ukraine) through Congress. 

* The House's plan (if they can even pass it) to separate Israel aid from Ukraine aid is DOA in the Senate, while both the Senate's combined package and the Biden admin's package is DOA in the House.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin are slated to testify Tuesday morning in a hearing before the Senate Appropriations Committee, regarding the Biden administration’s more than $100 billion emergency aid request for conflicts in Israel and Ukraine. 

The majority of Democrats and many Republican senators support tying aid for the two countries together. 

But, the aid request faces much deeper problems in the Republican-led House, where new Speaker Mike Johnson has proposed cutting out the Ukraine aid and focusing on Israel alone. He’s also proposed cutting money for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to pay for it, as The Associated Press reported.

Biden, who is of Irish Catholic descent, has used similar words in the past to profess his affinity for Israel. It was already known that a small group of U.S. special forces are in Israel advising on how to potentially rescue scores of hostages, including Americans, held by terror group Hamas in Gaza. 

The image of Biden shaking hands with them during his visit to Israel on Wednesday was published on the official White House Instagram page for hours and garnered thousands of likes and comments.

As to what is my take. 

I am not a weapons expert, and I am certainly not an expert to a blast site. But the area around the hospital had already experienced dozens of Israeli missile attacks over a 24 hour period, and was the principle reason why many had fled to the hospital courtyard/parking lot hoping for safety even though Israel was warning everyone to get out. 

And then there was the IDF response to the allegations that it was their missile that caused this catastrophe. It was not only the total lack of empathy on what had happened, but the body language, smugness and the grinning of the spokesman who was denying the allegations that Israel was responsible for this massacre just did not sit well with me. It was more like .... "yeah, we know you are blaming us for this attack, but you cannot prove it". 

Here is an easy and sad prediction. Since the start of the war we have seen barbarism and brutality by both sides against civilians in this war. It is going to get worse.
