Peter J. Brown, Asia Times: North Korea fuels arms, missile, anti-missile race in region and beyond
Despite the Olympic breather, Pyongyang’s threats are prompting new deployments and upping interest in new technologies
The recent olive branch extended by North Korea does not defuse Northeast Asia’s security crisis; the region remains in the midst of a dual missile and anti-missile defense race. Many US military leaders see North Korea’s Winter Olympics participation as nothing more than a breathing space, buying dictator Kim Jong-un extra time to work up his missile and nuclear weapons programs.
Regional uncertainties were underscored by one sentence uttered on New Year’s Day by Kim: “The [North Korean] nuclear-weapons research sector and the rocket industry should mass-produce nuclear warheads and ballistic missiles.” This stark reminder of Kim’s goal overshadows all future diplomacy.

"Canadian Government Requires Pledging Support for Abortion to Get Summer Jobs Funding"
Canada is now officially a fascist state.
Aizino what are you babbling about again? Did you take your meds? One of those days, isn't it
Aizinio
I would not say it is fascist. But arrogant and condescending politics.
Canadian PM Trudeau made it very clear in the last election that he did not want the vote from those who were against abortion. But this is the Achilles in the next election. Liberals derive their support from immigrants .... and most of them are very religious. It all comes down to messaging, and how well will the Conservative Party of Canada take advantage of this opportunity.

I wrote my post to be provocative and I landed a fish that is not of legal size. I'll have to throw you back in.
Is Canada a fascist state? No. But it is headed down that part.
You do not need two parties, an adversarial party system, etc to prevent totalitarianism, but this stifling of dissent (or difference in opinion) by Trudeau is very odious. And I'll repeat it is on the road to fascism. It might be the 1st step out of a hundred or the 5th step, but it is at the beginning stages.
Just remember there are a significant number of liberals that think it is not a crime to murder a two-year old, because they are not a 'person'. The Left has very little in the way of moorings.
