KABUL (Reuters) - U.S. forces in Afghanistan have attacked networks of anti-China militants in an action that is likely to please Beijing, which had called for Western cooperation in its fight against a group it says wants to split off its Xinjiang region.

The strikes in the northern province of Badakhshan destroyed Taliban training camps which support militant operations in Afghanistan as well as operations by the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) in the border region with China and Tajikistan, Afghanistan’s NATO-led mission said in a release on Thursday.

“The U.S. strikes support Afghanistan in reassuring its neighbours that it is not a safe sanctuary for terrorists who want to carry out cross-border operations,” it said.

Aizino,

I would like to think we are getting something for this. If nothing else, cooperation like this will help us improve our relations with China which would be hugely beneficial down the road. Hopefully we can have more cooperation with them in the future.

Aizino,

I don't understand. China is a major world power. It's helpful to have hood working relations with such people/countries.

I'm not sure how being gullible applies here. Of course we want to get something in return for our efforts here. If such efforts can yield tangible fruit in improving relations between them and us, that'd be very helpful.

Sorry about the misspelling. China is not Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, or WW2 era Italy. If they were, there would be broad coalitions against them. As it is, even China's neighbors can't even agree on a unified approach to confront China.

If they have territorial ambitions, they need to FIGHT FOR THEM!! LEAVE US OUT OF IT!!

If there is an opportunity for us cooperate with a najor power like China provided the cost isn't to high and we can get something of value for it, we absolutely should do so. The opportunity to possibly improve relations with such an important country is valuable in and of itself. The cost should not be to high though and we need something in return.

Aiz I didn't need to go and bomb innocent civilians in Iraq to feel brave as you asked. Or did you serve in the earlier wars before the illegal invasion? If so does that make you feel brave only killing people in the "legitimate" wars? Now be brave once again & expain this for me. Also let's see your bravado and put a pic along with your name, or is that walking into scary territory for you hmmm? Saying that I guess that makes Jay braver than you all the while I am still a simple anon. I would also like to point out that taking the Micky out of B seems to be very much like cowardice. p.s Latin I guess you really like flowers then, oh so manly Mr Smith
