Stars and Stripes: US military uses strategy from ISIS fight to attack Taliban

The U.S. military is ratcheting up its attack on Taliban funding streams in Afghanistan, where troops are using a strategy that paid dividends in the battle against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, the general in charge of U.S. Central Command said Tuesday.

“This is a lesson learned from Iraq and Syria, where we got serious about going after the funding streams that supported ISIS,” Army Gen. Joseph Votel said during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing. “We started to see an immediate impact, so that is exactly the intention here.”

They are not the same. No two groups or countries are the same. Also, just how much did the US actually do to defeat ISIS assuming it's really defeated. The Russian contribution to this probably should not be discounted.

I hope and pray it works. My personal strategy would probably bevto get out now. Like I say "when in a hole, the first thing to do is TO STOP DIGGING!!

DJT has already accomplished things I never thought possible. Tax cuts, regulatory reform, ISIS being diminished on his watch, and gutting Obamacare just to name a few. Perhaps he and his team working with the military really can beat the Taliban. The Soviet Union couldn't even do that!!

What a dumb shit, ISIS was an international organization that used the Internet to spread is influence and recruit new members. They relied heavily on funding and on the use of the internet. ISIS was first defeated online and those who fought them online also fought them on the ground using Russian proxies. The Taliban is a totally different beast who maintains influence over half, if not more of the country. They would be better combated with diplomacy and negotiations, then again all Americans know is how to waste money on bombing $10 tents.

Why can't we put our differences with Russia aside for once and together kick the Talibans aas? I'm sure Russians want to get a piece of revenge on the Taliban and it would be good for both nations to heal old cold war wounds during the Afghanistan proxy wars back then. I totally would support this. I'm sick and tired of Russians being our enemies (even IF it might be their fault more than ours)...let's reach out to them and see if we can team up. Can you imagine? Russians and Americans side by side. ..the Taliban would freaking sh*t themselves :) we could make it payTV and even make money off it. Haha I'd watch that. . and at the end Russians and Americans get f'ing drunk together and party together for once. It would be epic. Can't we live in that world, please? :)
