Reuters: Trump welcomes historic North, South Korea meeting
U.S. President Donald Trump hailed the historic meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Friday, even while sounding a note of caution.
Kim and Moon pledged to work toward the “complete decentralization of the Korean peninsula,” and to seek to declare an official end to the 1950s Korean War and establish a permanent peace agreement.
In a series of tweets, Trump appeared optimistic about the outcome of the summit. The U.S. president is planning his own meeting with Kim, expected in the coming weeks, in what would be the first ever meeting between sitting leaders of the two countries.

I do not think that John McCain or Jeb Bush could have said this in such a straight forward way.
Maybe McCain could've, would've in 1980 been such a straight talker, but he has been to long in the Swamp. He is friends with Lindsey for God's sake.
While many applaud the fact that North Korea said it will give up nukes, the Chinese press reports a collapse at nuke site that killed at least 200 people and the bad stuff may spread, warn the Chine'se, in the area. The moutain housing this site has COLLAPSED...small wonder Kim willing to give up what is now possibly gone on its own
But are the Chinese telling the truth?
Experts doubt N. Korea nuke test site collapse claims
Fred,
A new nuke site is easily replaced and Kim doesn't care about the waste, think Chernobyl. Frankly the only new variable in this equation is Trump. Leaders like Kim, Xi, Moon, and even Putin are nothing new to this situation. Never before has the US had a POTUS like Trump who. love him or hate him, is a master negotiator and has had the humility to put American interests above his own.
While there is still much that can go wrong here, frankly DJT should probably get about 85% of the credit for what has transpired to date here. Of course given your dislike of him I can understand why you are grasping at straws, at ANYTHING, you can find that might discredit him.
WNU,
I agree. This is very smart on the part of POTUS. Similar approaches have been tried with Putin. Unfortunately much of current US leadership simply does not understand the concepts of diplomacy, statesmanship, common sense, or humility.
"Gone on its own". A test site collapsed. Not his storage site. You dont think this story is conveniently timed? Just to give your camp another straw to hold on to as its sinking? In the articles talking about the collapse, it also mentions it was from the last test. The last test actually split the mountain open, and it closed back in on its self. If you dont understand the importance of my last statement, I'll explain. If the last test split the mountain, most people would assume the collapse is inevitable. North Koreas last nuclear test was last year. He stopped testing because of the collapse months ago. Throw in real enforced crippling sanctions, the cost of a new test site, China not being pleased about possible effects from the collapse, and now were talking DENUCLEARIZATION. Can you really not wrap your head around how that has anything to do with DJT? Are you the troll?
We can thank Obama for the economy, unemployment, and ending the Korean war. According to Fred. Just like we can thank Bush for fixing the recession.
It all makes "cents" now!
"But are the Chinese telling the truth?"
The U.S. Japan and other could put planes in the air looking for isotopes like they do after a nuke test to see if a mountain collapse stirred stuff up.
Don't know. Need to read more.
Calm down test one
That time of the month?
Got me wrong
I don’t care who gets credit for what but rather what gets done at a time needed
"I don't care who gets credit for what but rather what gets done at a time needed." On this, we are in total agreement. Fortunately we have a POTUS who feels the same way!! He has at least tried to place American intersts above his own.
In dealings with Russia, he has been a bit disappointing. He's tried to "thread the needle" between the crazies who want war with Russia at ANY costs and common sense approaches when dealing with Russia. This hasn't worked out well and likely won't end well. It's best to jettison the crazies entirely and focus on common sense approaches.
Donald Trump deserves ‘little credit’ for North and South Korean peace agreement, experts say
“China’s agreement to the sanctions was far more important,” he noted
Whatever.
Would China have agreed to sanction if we had not asked?
That is would china have implemented sanction on their own of their own volition?
China implemented sanction right away, which is why there was no cheating, sanction busting.
No flexible, pretzel twisting president got this done.
This only happend after Trump's sanctions.
