China Unveils Z-19E Advanced Attack Helicopter

The Diplomat: China’s New Attack Helicopter Completes Weapons Trials

An export version of China’s WZ-19 light attack helicopter just completed firing tests.

The export variant of the Harbin WZ-19 reconnaissance/attack helicopter, designated Z-19E, successfully completed firing tests, state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) said in a May 16 statement.

“The Z-19E has shown its maneuverability and operational capability in the just concluded firing flight test phase, which marks a major step for the export model into the market,” AVIC said in the press release. The weapons trials, which began on March 29, lasted for 40 days, according to the company. The helicopter is produced by AVIC subsidiary Harbin Aircraft Industry Group.

WNU editor: The Chinese want to export this attack helicopter .... and I am willing to bet that the price will be competitive to what the Americans, Europeans, and Russians are selling.

Its concept is based on the French "Dauphin". It has no match with Russian's or American's helicopter.

Highly doubt its going to be competitive. A relatively untested (combat wise) helicopter going to be priced relative to what everyone else is selling?

No way!

It is going to be priced super-cheap. Unfortunately .... that is the Chinese way. Now will someone buy it for their military? I guess we shall see.

I can't help but think that those wheels are the same one on my wheel barrel that I bought at Home Depot...something tells me I'm not far off.

Anon,
I like your humor! This helicopter is for underdeveloped countries which have no qualified pilot to do the job.

Quantity has a quality all its own. With a cheap price, a military could field a lot of these.
