Reuters: North, South Korea to hold high-level inter-Korea talks on May 16
SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea and South Korea agreed on Tuesday to hold high-level inter-Korea talks on May 16 to discuss steps needed to uphold the pledge to denuclearize the Korean peninsula, South Korea’s Unification Ministry said.
The meeting will discuss specific plans needed to carry out the April 27 inter-Korea summit declaration, which includes pledges to finally end a seven-decade war this year, and pursue “complete denuclearization”.
“The South and North will hold a high-level inter-Korea meeting on May 16 in the Peace House in Panmunjom, to discuss implementation of ‘Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification of the Korean Peninsula,” the Unification Ministry said in a statement.

WNU Editor: Both Korean governments are moving very fast to implement what was agreed upon on the April 27 inter-Korea summit declaration. No one is interested in slowing down or delaying the process. This is unprecedented for the North Koreans. In the past they were masters on going slow, and always delaying implementing understandings and agreements. Now we see the reverse. They want everything done now.

Smart. Also puts them in a better position with Trump, gives the N.Koreans an advantage.
If something doesn't go their way at the Trump meeting, or they want something that Trump won't give, who will get the blame?
Not North Korea who have tightly clinched their deals with South Korea. North wants to, or at least, give the appearance of building a strong buffer between themselves and Trump, and that buffer is South.
This is "smart" on all sides really. As part of any agreement over the mid to long term a withdrawal of US forces from South Korea has to be part of the deal.
