Jewish News Syndicate: An IDF soldier’s description of experience in Gaza

Have you ever seen 4,000 people running towards you full of hate and yelling “Allah Akhbar”?

A place with so much meaning.

Words cannot describe the situations my comrades and I have been through.

The first time we got to the border we couldn’t imagine how the next 4 months would be like.

The first thing my officer told us when we started duty is that “the fence is a metaphor … only where the IDF is, is there a border.”

We couldn’t imagine how right he was.

In the past 4 months, my unit took control over the border, it was at this time the most difficult border in Israel.

Anon
I have noted over the years that left of center organs often will publish anti-Israeli articles, and these articles are usually written by Jews or Israeli Jews. However, try to find a Palestinian, or Arab, writer who will take a close look at Palestian issues and you will not find any. Does that mean there is never ever anything wrong with any and all Palestinians views? I doubt it.
I am fully aware of shortcomings in Israeli dealings with the Arabs, but it is time for Palestinians to wake up to realities: they are not going to get a full Return to land that is now Israel; they are not going to demolish the Israeli state; they are not going to go without road and border checks so long as Hamas recruits and uses Palestinians to further their proclaimed end: destruction of Israel

A friend who grew up in Libya (at an American base) told me that Arabs do not look at time and land as do Americans. Back in the day he was taught by his neighbors that Arabs take the long view and believe that endless struggle and attrition of their enemies will return their lands, including Spain and Portugal. Once owned, forever theirs. How do you negotiate or have a dialogue with such people and cultures having such core beliefs? Modern experience shows that this is almost impossible.

Germany requires massive amounts of foreign labor to keep its economy moving. In the 80s I was biking across Europe. On the small roads outside of Hamburg all I saw at lunchtime was a sea of Turkish guest workers as if you were in Turkey. If you Have been there you will know the sight. Germany's industry needed more such people. Unlike the well behaved Turks Germany decided to open up the EU to many savage, bigoted, violent and fundamentalist people. Not a good fit.

Move ahead a few decades and I took a wrong turn leaving CDG and wound up in the Muslim projects outside Paris. Scared me to death. These places are now called no go zones.

Thank you Chancellor.

Europe was once safe to visit and live. Especially Germany. Seems to be a lot of lone rangers making trouble. Right.
