Reuters: Xi tells Mattis China won't give up 'one inch' of territory
BEIJING (Reuters) - China is committed to peace and won’t cause “chaos” in the world, but cannot give up even an inch of territory that the country’s ancestors have left behind, Chinese President Xi Jinping told U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis on Wednesday.
Mattis, a former Marine general, has been highly critical of China’s muscular military moves in the disputed South China Sea. The U.S. military even withdrew an invitation to China to join a multinational naval exercise that will start during Mattis’ visit, upsetting Beijing.
Mattis is visiting against a backdrop of spiraling tension between Beijing and Washington over trade.

.... China is committed to peace and won’t cause “chaos” in the world, but cannot give up even an inch of territory that the country’s ancestors have left behind.
So what is the territory that China's ancestors have left behind? My read of what he said is the following .... Chinese President Xi just told U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis that China will take back every inch that belonged to China in the past. And that (in my opinion) includes Taiwan and almost every island in the South China Sea, and the islands that Japan has claimed. This is an ominous warning from the Chinese President to the American people .... and what bothers me is that the U.S. press (so far) is missing the deeper message on what Xi is saying.

Does that include Tibet?
I'm glad that people in Europe don't think this way. Oh wait, never mind...
Yes this isn't a surprise to me. I expect as China's military grows in power the Japanese will be hard put to keep their island nation intact. The US will be challenged on Alaska's ownership and many possessions the US has in the Pacific.
China is going to be one ugly super power.
LOL - good one
And yes, now they will also INCREASE MILITARY PRESENCE IN AFRICA
The Chinese must be feeling the pressure of the recent US economic agenda...
