The Telegraph: The slow fall of Ghazni: how the Taliban took over an Afghan city

It had long been clear for Nasir Ahmad Faghiri and his fellow councillors that the situation in Ghazni was at a crisis.

Security in their city two hours drive south of Afghanistan's capital had been sliding for months as Taliban fighters slowly encroached.

Residents complained militants freely extorted money and killed government workers with impunity. The situation in more distant rural districts was worse. Repeated warnings of this creeping takeover had been met only with central government assurances that everything was under control.

WNU editor: This is one of those situations where everyone saw and knew that it was going to happen (i.e. the Taliban atatcking the city of Ghazni), but no one did anything to stop it.

Yet another misleading story from the Taliban Fanboy press. They do not have the city nor did they ever have it. what we are getting is completely one side. Do a little research to get the full story. A major battle lasted for a few days before the afghan military defeated them as per usual.
