* He died Saturday after a year-long fight with brain cancer. He was 81.
NATO, the world's most powerful military alliance, is considering naming its new, billion-dollar headquarters in Brussels in honor of the late Sen. John McCain.
The proposal from British Parliament member Tom Tugendhat would be "considered carefully," NATO spokesperson Oana Lungescu said in a statement. "The Secretary-General has tremendous respect for Senator John McCain," she added.

WNU Editor: This proposal came from a friend of Sen. McCain in the British parliament, not from NATO itself. My prediction is that they will not name the new NATO HQ after John McCain, especially in view of President Trump's bitter and hostile relationship with the former Senator.

Sen McCain is the beneficiary of buckets full of crocodile tears. In fact he was a petty man in his late life. His treatment of Trump wasn't a principled disagreement on policy, he just hated the man enough to break campaign promises, repeated for many years, to repeal Obamacare just to spite Trump. His shabby treatment of Sarah Palin supports this pettiness. He left plenty of bruised feelings behind, his family will miss him, few others will once he's put in the ground.
McCain was largely hated in the US mainstream media, especially when he was running for president against the liberal darling Obama. When McCain then began to battle against Trump, the liberal media switched and professed love and respect for McCain. Which just shows us all the mainstream media is hypocritical and opportunistic, without a shred of morality, despite it's preening self-love and never ending virtue signaling. In his last years, McCain was obviously in decline, and he was ruthlessly used by the Democrats as a weapon against the hated Donald Trump. But one must always remember and respect McCain for the grit and courage he showed years earlier as a combat pilot, and how he rehabilitated himself after years of captivity as a POW, and how he went on to become an amazing political success story. Rest in peace Commander McCain.
anon, you forget the Keating 5 scandal which at the time was a notorious bribery scandal involving John McCain who did lots of favors for Charles Keating to keep him from being exposed for looting and ultimately destroying the US's Savings and Loan business throughout America. His ability to bribe 5 Senators to pressure regulators from catching on to his looting lead to the collapse of an entire financial industry. McCain should have gone to jail for it. Never should have stayed in govt. That was in the early 1990's.
Keating 5, a major blot on his government service.
