India and the US have aligned interests today due to China and Pakistan and this arrangement is likely to endure for a few decades. As we are seeing with our European allies, nothing is permanent regardless of the longevity of the alliance. For instance Germany today is far less allied to the US than it was just prior to the end of the Soviet Union. German is a lesser ally these days certainly not in the same vein as Japan, Canada, Australia, Israel, Britain.
