U.S. Poll: Defending Against Terrorism Should Be The Top Prority For President Trump And Congress

John Gramlich, PEW Research: Defending against terrorism has remained a top policy priority for Americans since 9/11

Over the course of more than 15 years and three presidential administrations, Americans have consistently said that defending the nation against terrorism should be a top policy priority for the White House and Congress, according to Pew Research Center surveys conducted since shortly after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

In January of this year, 73% of U.S. adults said defending the country against future terrorist attacks should be a top priority for President Donald Trump and Congress – making this one of the most frequently cited priorities, along with improving the educational system (72%) and strengthening the nation’s economy (71%).

Other issues have risen and fallen as public priorities over the years. Economic concerns such as improving the job situation and reducing the federal budget deficit have generally receded since 2010, while growing shares of Americans have prioritized other areas, such as protecting the environment, dealing with climate change and reducing health care costs.

Sonehow going out of one's way to pick fights with Russia and China, especially Russia doesn't register. This is hardly surprising. While the American people don't always have time to follow the news, they generally aren't stupid.

"While the American people don't always have time to follow the news, they generally aren't stupid."

Climate change is next to last. The "American people" are very, very stupid.

Anon,

Actually "climate change" at least the human caused version is the greatest myth ever foisted upon humanity. The marketing trying to prove this has been unprecedented yet Americans are still seeing through it. Maybe Americans aren't as stupid as their "betters" seem to think they are.

Eye to eye poster on your last. To believe we humans can change the climate of the earth by altering our activities in which we currently engage is the apex of climate ignorance.
There are, for free, numerous well written blog sites on the internet that will give facts and figures exposing the tom tom beaters for Dr. Ignorance's Climate Show. And....they will save you, should you read, ponder, and begin to see that Al Gore truly is a climate charlatan with no credentials, the cost of another ticket should he ever try to produce and show Climate Fraud #3 in a movie theater and you feel like going to view it.
This advice from one who once believed.
Still worried about CO2 levels? Google "CO2 atmosphere in US nuclear submarines". Then ask yourself why indoor pot growers and other greenhouse grower types increase the CO2 levels in their greenhouses. It's easy. 1+1='s 2. Etc., etc.

Roger,

Thanks for the reply. I've read many of these articles. As my time is limited, I did not reference any of them, the intellectually honest reader can seek them out.

Even without the articles the notion that human activity can alter the climate in a material way violates common sense and is hubris in that it assigns more influence to humans than we actually have. In summary, it is the greatest myth ever foisted upon humanity. I'm pleased to see that Americans may be catching on.

Actually it may be far more primal than American's "catching on." The climate change hoax has led in part to some of the ridiculous regulations businesses must fight through. As Such, it has hurt alot of people with no upside benefit. As such, it's little wonder Americans have had enough of it and want nothing to do with it.

As for government bureaucrats, university professors, and their ilk, they always do well no matter how the economy as a whole does. Unfortunately such people have trouble with win/win thinking. To them if someone else succeeds and has something they are being denied. Myths like climate change are part and parcel in their efforts to keep those they see as inferior down.

Another good sign, the twin myths of Russian interference in our elections and collusion apparently don't even register as concerns, however, perhaps it should as this is being used as an excuse to ratchet up tensions in Cold War 2. At least perhaps Americans aren't buying the myths.
