MOSCOW, October 25. /TASS/. A drone attack on Russia’s Hmeymim airbase in Syria in January this year was an elaborate multi-purpose Pentagon operation, Editor-in-Chief of National Defense journal Igor Korotchenko told TASS on Thursday.

As Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said at a plenary session of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum on security earlier on Thursday, the UAVs that attacked Russia’s Hmeymim airbase in Syria were operated from a US Boeing Poseidon-8 reconnaissance plane.

Fazman,

Very respectfully I have extensive experience working with and dealing with the US government and I can say with absolute certainty that the best way to ensure failure on anything on anything is to have the US government plan it. I used to think US military leaders were better. Unfortunately they aren't as evidenced by their words and actions.

With that said if the US participated in, planned, or led an attack on a Russian vase in Syria this was a bad idea both strategically and tactically. The main goals of US foreign policy need to be: 1.)end Cold War 2.)renegotiate our trade arrangements with China, and 3.)ensure a soft landing when the inevitable end comes for the role of the US dollar as world reserve currency comes.

An attack on a Russian Syrian base undermines 1 and 3 and possibly 2 as well. Best approach here for America, condemn this attack on the Russian base, sincerely offer to assist the Russians in finding those responsible for the attack and eliminating them or otherwise bringing them to justice, and if we were involved in this in some way immediately fire the military commanthe operatuinders who ordered and directed the operation.

Since it was in January looks like it's fake news anyway as either the Russians are to incompetent to prove the allegations or contrary to your beliefs they actually do know the u.s was behind it but are impotent to respond.

I suspect it is fake news. The other possibility is that the Russians are trying to ratchet down the tensions and, as such, have not responded in ways they could have or might in the future
