Four workers were injured and one is missing as Russia’s largest floating dock quickly went underwater. Its tower crane fell 15 meters, crashing on the country’s only aircraft carrier and piercing a hole in its hull.
The incident occurred at a shipyard in the port city of Murmansk in northwest Russia, where the aircraft carrier ‘Admiral Kuznetsov’ was undergoing planned repair and maintenance. The ship was parked in the floating dry dock PD-50. It could hold up to 80,000 tons, and was considered one of the largest floating docks in the world, as well as Russia’s largest.

All of a sudden American military accidents don't look so bad now.
Carriers aren't really that important to modern warfare. They do have limited use such as where Russia used theirs in Syria where it faces not even a cursory Naval threat. Perhaps they have a bigger place in modern warfare than I assign them but they certainly don't justify the investment America is making in our own carrier fleet.
"I bet you won't see this on Sputnik." You probably won't. For a variety of reasons, governments tend to not be forthcoming about a number of things. For example, we won't hear from the American news media about the true nature of the readiness of the American military or the true nature of the threats we face. It doesn't fit with the preferred narrative.
Additional points to consider are, if the true nature of the threats were known, the economy would grind to a halt as people holed up in place in America and very likely the "west" in general. for obvious reasons they can't come clean.
Think of the heads that would roll if it was known the true nature of the shiny new very expensive paperweights and floating death traps that the US military industrial complex has been producing that are very, very expensive while being in some cases inadequate and in other cases a totally bad fit to meet modern threats.

IMHO American military accidents look far worse in light of this. Russia has suffered damage to an aircraft carrier that is borderline obsolete anyway and, at best, has use in only limited situations anyway.
Furthermore I am assuming they have maintained the skilled personnel necessary to repair the aircraft carrier as needed and have budgeted for this sort of thing as military accidents are quite common. Military work is the most dangerous on earth and the Russian government simply, from my perspective, hasn't demonstrated the level of incompetence that is routine on the part of the American government. As such, it would be a pollyannish assumption that would not seem to be based in reality to assume otherwise.
In contrast to the Russian aircraft carrier, we have suffered extensive damage to F-22s and probably lost some due to the monumental incompetence of failing to properly harden the facilities where the planes were all while the personnel had plenty of warning and time to do this. Keep in mind these are mission critical to what America is doing and someone, in their infinite incompetence, disbanded the facilities necessary to assemble new ones. As such, any that are lost probably cannot be readily replaced and getting parts for those can be salvaged will be difficult.
Like the information that may or may not come from Sputnik, there is a good chance we will not get the true nature of this from our media. Essentially American military accidents do not look any less bad now than they did before and may look worse than they did before as the damage to the F-22s is far more significant and important than an aircraft carrier will likely be to Russia.
This is my humble opinion based upon what I sincerely believe to be a careful and thorough analysis. As with anything where we do not have access to inside information in real time it could be in error.

Very good question actually. Thank you for the reply. First of all I would suggest actually getting to know some of those men and women who serve in the military and actually taking the time to understand them as opposed to what is presented to you by the media. Then I would suggest reading from multiple sources.
After we have done this we can apply common sense. I am going to cite several examples. 1.)Some time ago tanks were sent to Western Europe as part of NATO. These tanks were supposed to be ready to go immediately. The personnel in charge of this did not put fuel in the tanks. This suggests exhaustion on the part of overworked personnel and due to the need to keep going a lack of proper training. There is no evidence that this situation has improved. In fact available evidence would suggest the opposite. 2.)There have been several collisions involving Navy ships. This suggests exhaustion on the part of the personnel in trying to keep up with any number of fruitless missions around the world along with training lapses due to the need to keep up with unrealistic demands. 3.)We have an F-35 that according to some reports would have trouble surviving a lightning strike and littoral class battleships that constantly break down. 4.)Personnel in FL knew a hurricane was coming, had ample time to prepare, yet our F-22 planes were not properly secured. This suggests poor leadership and training lapses. As with any group that is overworked and stretched to thin, things like necessary training and maintenance are going to be problematic at best.
I could go on from here. From this information and others I think it a reasonable conclusion the state of the US military is not a rosy as that the US media or the our government tells it is and the threats we face are far more severe than what we are generally being told. The first step to success is going to be an honest and realistic assessments of where you are and where those are who affect you. Absent such realistic assessments having any confidence in success is problematic at best.
Perhaps adversaries and potential adversaries are even more misguided than our leadership is. In watching the Chinese in action, at least as this pertains to Chinese leadership, this is certainly possible.

You'd also know I hate Communism. Again, this requires reading. As I don't support Putin, he couldn't possibly be my "god."
My position on aircraft carriers is nothing new. Except for very limited use they are largely obsolete. I've been pointing this out here and elsewhere for quite sometime.
While it may be embarrassing for the Russian military, it's not nearly as big loss to then as the F-22s are to our military.
IMHO US military leaders need to be the ones in "damage control" over the loss and damage of the F-22s. Unfortunately like much of the US leadership these people are often to stupid to know they are stupid.

Apparently you've been paying no attention at all to pretty much anything. CNN would pretty much buy into the aircraft carrier nonsense. It helps to actually pay attention to the actions of others before posting. You seem to lack such capabilities.
Of course we should not "sink" our aircraft carriers. After all we spent the money on them and the people who worked on this deserve a certain dignity. As for the leaders who sold this to Congress, allow them to retire in dignity as long as they FIND THEMSELVES A NICE QUITE PLACE to retire and STAY OUT OF THE WAY!!
These floating death traps do have limited uses. As Such, keep them in operation for the limited uses they work for. As they age, retire then, and do not invest in New ones.

I figured this out in 1999. At this point, we should have stopped all development in aircraft carriers. Like spears there's no good reason to double down on the obsolete.
