President Trump threatened to permanently close the U.S. border with Mexico on Monday, saying he'll take the drastic action if members of a swelling migrant caravan are not deported back to their Central American homelands.
U.S. Border Patrol fired tear gas canisters and rubber bullets at a group of migrants on Sunday, including families with young children, as hundreds tried to storm the border.
The agency said the action came after some threw 'projectiles' that hit border officers.

Mexico has a significant economic interest in keeping this border open; more so than the United States. Closing it will be costly ever day that it is closed. Mexico should have done more in stemming this mass at its southern borders before it reached this point, and it will now suffer from both a border freeze and having to accommodate this mass that now rests in Tijuana. I guess that Mexico and this South American diaspora didn't really think Trump would close the border. Not a fan of Trump, but good on him for this one.

That's a bad move trying to storm the barricades, and pretty much assures these people will not receive asylum. Anything on your record, including getting in trouble with the Mexican police will get you sent back home.
The smart way to game the system is to just sneak in like the rest, disappear into the "sanctuary" of California, your children instantly become dreamers, and outside of serious crime(murder)you will never be deported. In fact you pretty much get to live by your own set of rules...hard to argue against at least trying to sneak in.
