Business Insider/SCMP: China is opening its doors to a US carrier group after months of mounting tensions
* After months of rising tensions, during which Beijing rejected a port call request from the US Navy amphibious assault ship USS Wasp, China has decided to open its doors to a US carrier strike group led by the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan.
* The port call comes on heels of a military-to-military exchange at sea, where Chinese officials were invited to watch US Navy F-18 Super Hornets take off and land from the deck of the carrier.
* Recent Chinese media reports indicate that military ties could serve as a stabilizer in the relationship, but numerous unresolved issues continue to complicate things.
An American carrier strike group led by the USS Ronald Reagan was heading to Hong Kong on Tuesday following a visit by a senior People's Liberation Army commander as the two sides aimed to soothe months of tensions.
Military analysts said the fact that the ships had been given approval to dock on Wednesday indicated that Beijing was trying to calm things down ahead of a meeting between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump at the G20 summit at the end of the month.

It's definitely going -MUCH- better than under Obama, that's for sure. Not even a comparison.
Remember when Obama announced a "Pivot to Asia" and at the same time gutted the US military? I remember. Perhaps even a bigger mistake than the Syria red line. Think about it. Telling your adversary you're coming and then tying your shoes. But hey. On Cnn they were like "smart Obama, so smart". I really cannot tell if cnn is foreign operated or not. A more destructive force to the US I cannot name (and I'm European, so I shouldn't care, but from outside it looks like the US is being manipulated by them every step along the line)
Also, when Obama snipes at Trump all the time -which is very unpresidential and untypical after being out of office-he gets a pass. And he's making nearly one billion (Billion not million) with book sales and "speeches" now. Do you think that's normal? When the Clintons made 150 million that was considered unethical, corrupt and worthy of investigation. More than six times as much and no word. No discussion. Just normal. You think it's normal? They were not even millionaires before taking office. You think he's the best author in the world (beating the life accomplishment of Stephen King in less than 4 years and by a factor of 5?)
