* US forces are expected to receive a lot of new weapons and gear in 2019, everything from sniper rifles to body armor to new sidearms.
* These are a few of the new pieces of defense equipment that US troops will be taking into battle in the year ahead.
With the fiscal year 2019 defense budget put to bed without a bloody fight among lawmakers for the first time in recent memory, there are plenty of goodies for rank-and-file U.S. service members tucked into the massive appropriation measure — and not just their largest pay raise in more than a decade.
Here's a brief overview of all the new gear headed into the waiting hands of soldiers and Marines downrange in 2019.

I didn't see anything impressive in that article.
It's for 2019. pistols and some sniper rifle and some body armor. Wtf.
To stay competitive I'd have expected first batch of laser rifles, some nice new mini drones, self repairing body armor, ..you know?
Instead it looks like same old same old with small upgrades. Where's the innovation?
There are designs that people thought of in 1900, but they could not get them done becauise of _____.
