ABC News: Canada wants 1 million more immigrants over next 3 years
In 2017, Canada welcomed almost 300,000 permanent residents.
Canada, a nation of not quite 37 million people, wants to add more than 1 million immigrants through 2021.
"Thanks in great part to the newcomers we have welcomed throughout our history, Canada has developed into the strong and vibrant country we all enjoy," Ahmed Hussen, minister of immigration, refugees and citizenship, wrote in an annual report to Parliament. "Immigrants and their descendants have made immeasurable contributions to Canada, and our future success depends on continuing to ensure they are welcomed and well-integrated."

Update: Canada wants to welcome more than 1 million new immigrants in the next three years (CNN)
WNU Editor: These numbers tell only a part of the story. They do not include international students studying in Canada who apply for Canadian citizenship when they finish their degrees (there are 350,000 international student each year in Canada)). Nor do these numbers include work visas given to foreigners to work in Canada (and the number is hundreds of thousands per year), who also usually end up taking Canadian citizenship. From what I have heard .... the real number is closer to 2 million (and maybe more) immigrants becoming Canadians, and not 1 million over the next three years. The impact of this open border policy is already being felt in Canada's major cities. These people have to live somewhere, hence housing and rents are becoming out of reach even more so for most Canadians. I can only speak for Montreal where I live, and rents here have exploded in the past few years, and purchasing a house on the island of Montreal is now next to impossible for most families. I know the Trudeau government believes this is a winning issue for them in this year's election. But in Montreal where I live .... and Montreal is a Trudeau stronghold, there is no support for this, and outside of Montreal in the province of Quebec, even less so.

Here is the plan:
make arrangement with Trump: Let US pay the tab and ship Central Americans and Mexicans from border to Canada. That means no problem with Hispanics doming into US and all the people Canada seems to be seeking. Both nations win
When Bill Clinton pushed the H1B visa program thru Congress back in circa 1997 my sleepy town in the SF Bay Area was transformed very quickly with rapidly rising rents, real estate prices, traffic and Indians. Fine people but boy did alot of them come over.
Never underestimate the rapidity of demographic changes when the incentives are in place.
Anon--
If you are not a native American, how did your ancestors get into this nation? legal immigration has always been on the books, though often distorted (usually by State Dept) on who was preferred for entry...
The US is in demographic decline, ie, more people dying than being born...we will need workers, folks for our military etc.
But the article posted is really about Canada and what that govt seems to want.
Anon@4:21, shove your sanctimony up your rectum.
Native Americans got here the same way I did....moving here. There were no human beings instantly coming into existence on the North American continent. They came her from parts unknown be it Asia, Pacific or elsewhere. They got here first but they did like everybody else that came afterwards.
My observations were just that, no tinge of any snow flake emotions.
now now...got your dander up?
Yes. that white settlers destroyed Indians in the south and north America is history, but now, in US we have (or had) legal immigration and now that you are here, do you want to keep others out? the lady on the island just outside entry to Ellis Island welcomes the newcomer...yes. we all oppose illegals, except for businessmen and those who welcome cheap labor from illegals. We have some 10 million illegals here now. Many are those who got here legally on visas but have overstayed and live here illegally.
Canada seems to want and to need people. What they do is their choice and not mine.
The question is.....will they stay after their first winter or head south?
The Trudeau plan is to make the rest of Canada look like Mississauga.
Bullet train from Nogales to Montreal? No stops in between .
