Two Saudi Arabian oil tankers were among four ships 'sabotaged' off the coast of the UAE on Sunday morning, it was revealed today, amid concerns Iran is targeting shipping in the region.

Saudi Arabia said the commercial vessels had been targeted in attacks which caused 'significant' damage to the tankers - one of which was en route to pick up Saudi oil to take to the U.S.

It comes down to credibility.

The intelligence community, the President and the government lost credibility on the world stage for America when it became clear that the excuses for Iraq II were a made up, manipulated, pitch that resulted in the killing of many innocent people. A war for which the ramifications are still on going and for which no perpetrator has suffered consequences.

The lies and evil rhetoric that went on to draw the nation into that useless and criminal war echo in the accusations now being directed at Iran. Hopefully the world recognizes this foreplay and comes up with a way to stop it before it escalates into something with the potential to exceed the atrocities of Iraq II, something that given the players is very possible.

Bob this is well known however the conclusions differ. From what I remember it was German intelligence that tried to convince the US counter parts that their signals were not clear on this - famously a German minister spoke out publicly saying " I do not believe your evidence"/"your interpretation of it".America relied on some shady goofball who suggested evidence x was indication of mobile biological WMD assembly trucks.. which is possible but inherently stupid for bio weapons. .anyways I think it was Colin Powel whose career was in shatters afterwards. A man who many suspected could become president after his military career, well distinguished. His presentation on it is even on YouTube. His career never recovered. There were consequences, even for those who just made the mistake in believing in signal data. And that's just what is in the public. but yeah not a stellar moment for the bush administration and only few republicans - including tucker carlson who's not your typical conservatist anyhow - has learned from it and warned repeatedly against making similar mistakes
