A Chinese aircraft carrier group was passing through the strategically sensitive Taiwan Strait on Tuesday, according to the authorities in Taipei.

They even copy the photo ops the U.S. does. Why can't China do anything original...

I think that since a a battle or carrier group has flankers, a van, a rearguard and logistics ships in the rear, that tactical imperative kind of shapes the battle group of whoever is going to build and operate such fleets.

As a photographer you take out the lead ship, the van as it would obscure the centerpiece, the carrier.

The capital ship go in the center to protect against subs and stuff. The only time a carrier has not being in the Center was the battle of Leyte Gulf. There aircraft carrier attacked Japanese battleships in a lopsided battle not to be ever repeated.
