No, no it isn't. And I am genuinely surprised at your comment, I figured you'd be able to comprehend reading between the lines here.

First of all, Venezuela troubles are have been ongoing for sometime. However, up until recently, has not had a surge/spike in violence. This data takes into account of a lot of factors. Sporadic windows of violence don't weight in as much as a country's collective 'peace index' which takes into account of everything from crime rate, murder rate, etc.

A fairly narrow window of political violence, civil disobedience and social upheaving impact the score marginally.

So yes. Collectively, Russia is less peaceful than Venezuela.

Your North Korea comment surprises me more. I figured you would be able to analyse that fairly easily.

North Korea is a peaceful country, and it isn't. There's two very different mediums there. The index can't take into account of how many uncles Kim Dictator killed this week or how many he sent off into his secret camp, can it? Nor does it take into account of its geopolitical situation. Data. Raw data is taken into account, and that raw data shows North Korea as a relatively peaceful country. And for all intents and purposes, its correct.

Just your perception of it needs to be turned upside down.
