OTTAWA (Reuters) - Airbus SE and Boeing Co may pull out of a bidding process to supply Canada with new fighter jets because they say the contest is unfairly tilted toward Lockheed Martin Corp, two sources with direct knowledge of the situation said on Monday.

The three companies competing with Lockheed Martin’s F-35 jet have already complained about the way the contest is being run, and expressed concern some of the specifications clearly favor the U.S. firm, industry sources have said in recent weeks.

WNU Editor: It is an open secret that the Canadian government and the defense staff want the F-35. It took a while but Boeing and Airbus have finally realized the obvious, The fix is in, and they are just window dressing to give the perception that a serious consultation was undertaken before the decision was made on what fighter jet should Canada choose. It is too bad. I personally believed Boeing's Super Hornet would be ideal for defending Canada's vast regions.

Canada need a air superiority fighter for defending itself, not a airstrike one. F-35 is not the right choice, of course, but why Boeing didn't offer the F-15 Silent ? For me, it would be the best one.

Too much has already been invested in these bomb trucks to go another direction. The likely reality is that these jets won't ever be used to defend Canada's vast landscape. They're going to be mainly used as a part of the nations, alongside a bunch of other F-35's. It's a lot easier if all the western nations use the same slow bomb trucks when it comes time to level some place that can't really fight back in the first place. It's not completely illogical to choose the f-35 by that metric.

Anon,

You mean like Iraq or Afghanistan.

Iraq could not defend itself. It attacked Iran and Kuwait

Afghanistan let itself be used a terrorist training base and staging area. Then it had the gall to say "We're not handing over Bin Laden.

There fixed that for you!

Libya was Obama's mistake. Bush left Libya alone in spite of past transgressions. Gadaffi flew straight and Bush left him alone.

The Barack Insane Obama come along and after being badgered by a girl, Samantha Power, he fucks up Libya, which is fucked up to this day.

Iraq has a government. Libya not so much.
