Nearly 18 years since the start of the war in Afghanistan and 16 years since the U.S. invasion of Iraq, majorities of U.S. military veterans say those wars were not worth fighting, according to a new Pew Research Center survey of veterans. A parallel survey of American adults finds that the public shares those sentiments.
Among veterans, 64% say the war in Iraq was not worth fighting considering the costs versus the benefits to the United States, while 33% say it was. The general public’s views are nearly identical: 62% of Americans overall say the Iraq War wasn’t worth it and 32% say it was. Similarly, majorities of both veterans (58%) and the public (59%) say the war in Afghanistan was not worth fighting. About four-in-ten or fewer say it was worth fighting.
Veterans who served in either Iraq or Afghanistan are no more supportive of those engagements than those who did not serve in these wars. And views do not differ based on rank or combat experience.

With no valid reason for going to war, no objective by which victory can be measured, and no apparent end in sight those two wars were absolutely useless, except for the creation of job security for the military. Although in one positive outcome from the war in Afghanistan, it did restore a major supply of opium to the world, and that has to be worth something.
Osama Bin Laden used Afghanistan as a base of operations for 911.
George W. Bush asked the Taliban government, which was installed by Pakistan, to extradite Osama. They refused. Thus the war.
That is a little too much for an anti-American prick like Robert Huntley to understand.
Extradite = No War
Refuse to Extradite = War

we went to war for an extradition and are still there? that makes sense to you?
and having gone to war, Bush then lost our war by invading Iraq, and thus allowing Taliban to make comeback...
and Osama B Ladin? Obama took care of that!
The war is not lost. The war is not won.
The objective is not being met, because Pakistan provides support to the Taliban.
Please get things right and speak the truth before your post.
There was absolutely no reason to institute a 20 year occupation if it was only about extradition. Your worldview is so simplistic.
dIf you are not winning then you are losing

A base was also set up in the USA where the 911 attackers got their flight training, and the FBI knew about it. You think maybe the state involved should have been attacked too? Idiot.
The Taliban is winning? They have been in exile for 20 years.
Democrats might have been involved in 911. After all Bill Clinton sold us out to china for campaign cash.
Attending an class at an American university or flight school does not make the university or school a base. You are a stupid MFer.
20/20 hind sight is such a wonderful luxury. I can't find a single quote from anyone who opposed the Iraq war in 2002/2003 which articulates the reasons they oppose it now.
Every intel service on the planet determined that Iraq held WMD. Iraq used WMD regularly in the Iran/Iraq war and on its own Kurdish minority.
There was no way - in the aftermath of 9/11 - that the West could tolerate Saddam Hussein and his sons Uday and Kusay to remain in regime.
Obama, in all his wisdom, telegraphed and vacated US mil personnel in 2011 - completely unraveling the gains made to that point and requiring the US to re-fight the war to regain the victory that was won in 2007 via the surge. With the added burdens of absurd ROE and zero political courage to fight the war the way it needed to be fought.
You can thank Obama for Iran taking full advantage of the weak effort and "filling the void".
So its easy to sit at your laptop and bash the effort with your convenient 20/20 hindsight and political talking points.
The waters of the Euphrates and Tigris were tested for chemical weapons production after 2003 and the tests came back positive.
Bobby Boo would not know this, because he is a sad sack sitting in his mothers basement banging away at a keyboard.

"Attending an class at an American university or flight school does not make the university or school a base."
I believe you meant to say "a class", not "an class". Please correct you post and work harder to avoid such idiotic errers.
Bob you are going spelling NAZI. Were you at the parade last month?

Your last comment was unintelligible. Please review it and submit something that can be understood.
Bob, you poor thing. I missed a comma and you are bitching up a storm.
Or maybe it really is that hard for you and are you going into terminal dementia.
"The actual dirty work was handled by Ann Marie VillafaƱa, a federal prosecutor, who wrote to Epstein's lawyer, "I would prefer not to highlight for the judge all the other crimes and all the other persons that we could charge.”
"Meanwhile media outlets, instead of asking Barry Krischer any hard questions, enthusiastically quote a letter by Krischer attacking Acosta."
So Krisher (D) refused to prosecute but he is criticising others for prosecuting
Only a Fuckercrat could dop that.
Krisher no longer has a law license.
There is no way a comma would make that a reasonable sentence that could be understood. Sorry, you failed again. Try harder.
You are hanging your hat on missing commas. You won't defend your description of 911.
Fully agreed.
