CNN: CNN Poll: Majority of Americans oppose more US aid for Ukraine in war with Russia 

Most Americans oppose Congress authorizing additional funding to support Ukraine in its war with Russia, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, as the public splits over whether the US has already done enough to assist Ukraine. 

Overall, 55% say the US Congress should not authorize additional funding to support Ukraine vs. 45% who say Congress should authorize such funding. And 51% say that the US has already done enough to help Ukraine while 48% say it should do more. A poll conducted in the early days of the Russian invasion in late February 2022 found 62% who felt the US should have been doing more. 

Partisan divisions have widened since that poll, too, with most Democrats and Republicans now on opposing sides of questions on the US role in Ukraine.

Zero Hedge: Trump, DeSantis Beat Biden In Hypothetical 2024 Matchup: Poll 

A new Harvard CAPS-Harris poll released on Friday reveals that both former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis would beat President Biden if the 2024 presidential election were held today. 

Out of 2,050 registered voters polled, 65% said that Biden shouldn't seek reelection. 46% said they would vote for Trump vs. 41% for Biden, and 13% of them were uncertain. 

If the GOP candidate is DeSantis, he beats Biden by a margin of 42% to 39% according to the poll. 

According to Mark Penn, co-director of the poll, Trump's lead over DeSantis may fade. 

"Trump is ahead but already has every vote he can get," he told The Hill, adding "DeSantis is the candidate of potential." 

That said, Trump's lead over DeSantis is huge...

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February has stoked U.S. nuclear fears like no other event since the close of the Cold War, according to foreign policy scholars and public opinion curators. 

In poll after poll this year, a majority of Americans have said they believe Russian President Vladimir Putin may unleash nuclear weapons on Ukraine, as Putin himself has threatened.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - After half a year of war in Ukraine, a slim majority of Americans agree that the United States should continue to support Kyiv until Russia withdraws all its forces, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll released on Wednesday. 

The polling suggests continued support for President Joe Biden's policy of backing Ukraine, despite economic worries and domestic political developments grabbing Americans' attention in recent months. 

The Biden administration has provided weapons and ammunition for Ukraine's bid to repel Russian forces and is expected to announce a new security assistance package of about $3 billion, a U.S. official said, as Ukraine's marks its Independence Day on Wednesday.

The number of Russians who believe Western values to be beneficial to the country has fallen drastically in the last 20 years, according to a poll conducted earlier this month by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) and published on Tuesday. 

“The West is not only a culture, but a whole system of socio-political and economic patterns and models,” wrote the pollsters, noting while Russian society largely looked to the West in the 1990s, it has since changed its attitude towards Western values.

When Russians look at the West today they see homeless camps in the cities. No go zones for police. Urban teenagers graduating high school who are illiterate. * Daily stress and worry remain steady and near pre-pandemic levels 

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The percentage of Americans who evaluate their lives poorly enough to be considered "suffering" on Gallup's Life Evaluation Index was 5.6% in July, the highest since the index's inception in 2008. This exceeds the previous high of 4.8% measured in April and is statistically higher than all prior estimates in the COVID-19 era. Across extensive measurement since January 2008, the suffering percentage has reached 4.5% or higher on a handful of occasions. 

The most recent results, obtained July 26 to Aug. 2, 2022, are based on web surveys of 3,649 U.S. adults as a part of the Gallup Panel, a probability-based, non-opt-in panel of about 115,000 adults across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The Justice-backed FBI raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago winter resort home has increased the percentage of people who believe that President Joe Biden is using the G-men as his “personal Gestapo.” 

In the latest Rasmussen Reports survey, 53% of likely voters agreed that “there is a group of politicized thugs at the top of the FBI that are using the FBI as Joe Biden’s personal Gestapo.”

* Thirty-seven percent who supported armed insurrection against the government currently own guns, the poll found

More than quarter of Americans - 28 per cent - said that it might 'soon be necessary to take up arms' against the US government, according to a new poll released Thursday. 

Of those who felt that way, 37 per cent currently own guns, the poll found. 

The poll also showed that a majority of Americans - liberal and conservative both - felt that their government was 'corrupt and rigged against everyday people like me.'

Moscow Times: Putin’s Global Ratings Drop to 20-Year Low – Pew 

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s global ratings have sunk to 20-year lows as the Russia invasion of Ukraines enters its fourth month, according to a Pew Research Center poll published Wednesday. 

A median of 9% of respondents in 18 countries said they have confidence in Putin “to do the right thing regarding world affairs,” Pew said. 

That compares with 18% confidence in Chinese leader Xi Jinping and 60% for U.S. President Joe Biden and 59% German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. 

Putin's worldwide approval has been on a downward trend during his two decades in power.

A new USA TODAY/Suffolk Poll shows the country in a funk and one that sets a problematic political landscape for Democrats in the November elections that are approaching fast. 

* Only 39% of Americans approve of the job Biden is doing as president. A stunning 47% "strongly" disapprove; just 16% "strongly" approve. Academic studies have shown that presidential approval is one of the most reliable predictors of what happens in midterm elections, and a rating this low would traditionally signal significant losses for the president's party.

Cyprus Mail: Cyprus the only EU state where majority disagrees that Russia is to blame for Ukraine war 

A poll has found that Cyprus is the only EU nation where an absolute majority disagrees or tends to disagree that Russian authorities are first and foremost responsible for the war in Ukraine. 

The poll, a flash Eurobarometer survey which was commissioned by the European Commission, also found that Cypriots were the most unhappy amongst the nations surveyed with the response of Nato and the US. 

Cyprus was also found to be the only member state where less than half of those surveyed supported sanctions against wealthy Russians (oligarchs).

Attitudes toward NATO increasingly positive Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has led to a dramatic shift in American public opinion: 70% of Americans now consider Russia an enemy of the United States, up from 41% in January. And on this topic, Democrats and Republicans largely agree, with 72% of Democrats and 69% of Republicans describing Russia as an enemy. 

A new Pew Research Center survey, conducted March 21-27, finds that just 7% of U.S. adults have an overall favorable opinion of Russia. Only 6% express confidence in its leader, President Vladimir Putin. In contrast, 72% have confidence in Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
