Donald Trump attacked Sir Kim Darroch, Britain's ambassador to the US, last night, claiming he had 'not served the UK well' after secret memos from the envoy were leaked.

In a series of cables, Sir Kim gave a scathing assessment of the White House under the US President, questioning whether it 'will ever look competent'.

Last night, the Foreign Office began investigation into the leak, which revealed that Sir Kim also described Donald Trump's regime as 'inept' and 'dysfunctional'.

Justice Secretary David Gauke called the leak 'disgraceful' and said it was important for ambassadors to 'tell the truth'. However, Mr Trump's ally, Nigel Farage, called for Sir Kim to be sacked.
