U.S. Congress Passes $733B Defense Bill Setting Up A Fight With Senate Republicans And A Veto Threat From President Trump

Politico: House Democrats unite to pass $733B defense bill

House Democrats closed ranks to pass a massive $733 billion defense policy bill on Friday, teeing up a partisan clash with Senate Republicans over military funding and contentious foreign policy issues.

The National Defense Authorization Act was approved 220 to 197, with all House Republicans opposing the bill — enough to sustain a promised veto from President Donald Trump.

WNU Editor: This budget in its current form will be vetoed by President Trump. It endorses a smaller military budget than Republicans sought, blocks military action against Iran without congressional approval, reverses Trump's transgender troop ban, blocks his efforts to tap the defense budget to construct more walls along the U.S.-Mexico border and puts limits on nuclear weapons programs.

This bill should be vetoed. Restricting defense expenditures, hamstringing the president's ability to confront adversaries and forcing mentally disordered individuals on the military is a non-starter.

The US military is not a PC sanctuary for people who can't figure out what gender they are. This is a mental disorder that the military doesn't have the time or resources to deal with. They have no business near sensitive information or lethal machinery.

And add in that the trend lines of their political agendas predominantly anti-American. They are too big a security risk and too big a distraction.

There's plenty of big tech firms who be happy to hire them.

Yes, when future historians look for the root causes of American decline, they'll definitely blame it on the trannnies.

On a side note, Russ, your vaunted tater peelin' skills will be needed to feed the brave troops clearing the Zagros mountains of basij resistance in Gulf War 9.

Definitely!

The bill is not to hamstring the president but rather to restore a declaration of war to Congress, where it had been. The president would still use his office to strike a nation if required.

What President originally pushed for the "War Powers Act"?

Fred, the way this bill reads, it directly prohibits the president from taking military action against Iran without the specific approval from congress (House). Which of course they would never give. So yes, it hamstrings the president from moving swiftly against Iran (an adversary) in an emergency.

And with regard to "tater peelin'". Isn't that a old banality by now, anon? You've worn out that cliche. Time to find new material. Its tired and dimwitted.

Fortunately for me you won't. You can't. You're stuck on tedious one-line insults just like every other autistic troll on this board. Its the definition of the modern mainstreaming of mental disorders. Encouraging dysfunction to the point of assigning incompetents to places of serious responsibility.

Thankfully transgender agitators won't be able to hinder the US military under President Trump.

So kindly shut your maladjusted gob and let the adults talk.

All adults of sufficient gravitas solve the urgent quandaries facing our grand republic on internet message boards.

Even lunkheads on KP duty know that.

Yeah, Iran or so other adversary will kill 20 or 100 American troops and the House will write up a detailed response in a day or a week on what we can or cannot do. Yoiu can do 2 air strike and no more.

That is about the Nancy Pelousy shit they will pull. They will go LBJ on us and micromanage the shit out of things. How did that work out? LBJ had a scale model of Khe Sanh with little toy soldiers in the basement of the White House to micromanage the Vietnam War.

When you absolutely, positive have to lose enlist the aid of the Democrats.

They are a special kind of stupid.

Fully agree with what Russ said.

So this brings up a few things like:

Did Trump order, or empower the person who ordered the air strike on Iran without Congressional approval?

Was it Trump who actually pulled the plug or did the order come from some other source involving Congress?

Does the military see itself outside the rule of Congress and the Constitution relative to initiating a war or even an attack that could lead to a war?

Is there any Congressional oversight involved in the President being able to use the launch codes in a given situation?

Trump had authority to strike Iran, if he so chose. He did not and does not have to notify Congress ahead of time.

You could look up all your dumb or obvious questions, but I doubt you have a high school diploma or GED much less a college degree.
