U.S. Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher Found Not Guilty Of War Crimes

Daily Mail: Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher walks free after being found NOT GUILTY of murdering ISIS fighter despite being convicted of one war crime - posing with a corpse

* Gallagher was acquitted on murder and attempted murder charges on Tuesday
* The 40-year-old was convicted of posing with the corpse of an ISIS fighter
* He is expected to be spared jail as the maximum sentence for the crime is four months and he spent longer in confinement awaiting trial
* Gallagher was accused of murdering the 17-year-old militant in Mosul in 2017
* He was also accused of firing his weapon at innocent civilians in Iraq
* He maintained his innocence throughout and said he was being set up by a group of younger, less disciplined men who did not like his leadership style
* The defense said on Monday there were huge 'gaping holes' in the evidence
* The jury was made up of five Marines and two sailors, including one SEAL
* The prosecution needed five of the seven jurors to convict
* It took them less than two days to reach a verdict at the Navy Base in San Diego

A decorated Navy SEAL has been acquitted Tuesday of murder in the killing of a wounded Islamic State captive under his care in Iraq in 2017.

The verdict was met with an outpouring of emotion as the military jury also cleared Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher, 40, of attempted murder in the shootings of two civilians and all other charges except for posing for photos with the body of the dead captive.

The case exposed a generational conflict within the ranks of the elite special forces group and the outcome dealt a major blow to one of the military's most high-profile war crimes cases.

Too bad the court martial did not convict RH of war crimes. He is certainly guilty.

Yes, it is. It is a pity, Bob, that you are not locked up for war crimes.

America does not lock up it's war criminals, but it does lock up war criminal squealers. Based on that the latest outcome was so predictable why waste the money on investigation and trial when the outcome is pretty much assured. Murderers.

So far I have not had the need, nor the opportunity to commit a war crime.

Very pleased that the hero Gallagher was acquitted. The corrupt disaster that was the prosecution aided him immensely. The US is lucky to have warriors like Gallagher.

Fighting for the rights of sniping cowards to vomit their petty snark.
