Taiwan News: Update: Crash knocked Chinese mystery warship's secret tech onto Taiwan freighter
High-tech radar from Mystery Chinese warship that fell onto Taiwan freighter during collision could reveal its identity
The Coast Guard in a press release issued today denied that any such "light detection and ranging radar (Lidar)" or "gun fire-control radar" had been found on the Yutai No. 1.
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) -- As more details emerge of the collision between a Taiwanese freighter and a mysterious Chinese warship near Kinmen, it appears that secret, high-technology radar equipment had fallen off the Chinese vessel and onto the Taiwanese ship, providing clues as to what kind of ship it really was.
At 8 p.m. on July 31, the Yutai No. 1 was slammed into by an unidentified Chinese warship 19.5 miles southeast of Liaoluo Port in Kinmen. The Taiwanese ship sustained damage, but none of its crew were injured, according to the report.

WNU Editor: I have doubts that this happened. If this Chinese warship had its radar system fall onto the deck of a Taiwanese freighter, that Taiwanese freighter would never have been permitted to escape.

Exactly. It instead would have been used as a pretext to invade Taiwan lol that ship would have never gotten away unless for some reason it couldn't be stopped. We will see :))
I seriously doubt such claims as well. The notion that the normally circumspect Chinese at least when it comes to military tactics would have been this careless and would have allowed the Taiwanese vessel to depart before they even noticed there missing item falls into the area of extraordinary claim. Such claims require extraordinary evidence. Time permitting I will read the article to see if such evidence is presented. If it was, I think the headline would allude to just what this evidence is.
For one, most cargo ships have rediculously high freeboard, that would make it impossible for a destroyer to deposit such a piece of equipment on board unless there was a massive hull breach or it was catapaulted Bugs Bunny style...
I would love to see the damage on that Chinese ship, it’s possible like in the case of US ships colliding with cargo ships that it could have caused massive damage including taking out the bridge and causing serious casualties among the senior officers. This is something we will probably never know.
1) I am with WNU on doubting this
happened.
2) I doubt that if something did fall
onto the freighter that it was
secret.
3) The comment regarding freeboard
height was astute.
4) The article made the point the
freighter was 19.5 miles out.
5) A clear review of the freighter's
navigational log would be
instructive.
I blame iran
Having first hand knowledge of the quality of some Chinese products I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the whole mast tumbled into the sea. The ship is probably lucky to be afloat. Then again, I wasn't there, so...[Hey! Three dots, Bob]
Just a thought.
Lol at Roger. If it's anything like their tools I would expect nothing less.😂
Roger is on a roll tonight :D
