Donald Trump looked up to the sky and proclaimed himself 'the chosen one' Wednesday in an extraordinary moment on the White House South Lawn.
The bizarre interjection came in the middle of a tirade against China - which also saw him execute a critical about-face by saying not pursuing a payroll tax cut, saying the economy is thriving and doesn't need an artificial infusion of cash.

I keep recalling an interview before the election wherein some voter to be was asked why she was voting for hrc; she replied, and I quote, "Oh I like her. I like her ideas". I would have checked her eyes closely to see if she was brain dead despite standing unassisted.
It was a decent joke. From a negotiator's perspective it signals that he isn't getting too stressed out about having his name associated with the trade war. He can express frustration against "fake news" domestically since he's pretty much already won 2020, but he can't show any weakness to his Chinese counterparts.
