President Trump On Tariff War With China: 'I Am The Chosen One'

Daily Mail: 'I am the CHOSEN ONE!' Donald Trump defends his tariff war with China saying he was picked to fight threat to the U.S. as he reverses course on tax cuts saying they are NOT on his agenda

* Donald Trump looked up to the sky and called himself 'the chosen one' on the White House South Lawn as he said he was right to fight China on trade
* Trump unloaded on the Federal Reserve and the 'fake news' amid a new recession warning, this time from his acting chief of staff
* Mick Mulvaney admitted to attendees of GOP fundraiser that a 'moderate and short' recession could be on the way
* Trump himself acknowledged this week that he's willing to risk a 'recession for two months' to end China's abusive business practices
* He and his advisers have claimed repeatedly in public in that a recession is not around the bend and the 'fake news' is creating unnecessary panic
* The president is badgering the Federal Reserve to slash interest rates

Donald Trump looked up to the sky and proclaimed himself 'the chosen one' Wednesday in an extraordinary moment on the White House South Lawn.

The bizarre interjection came in the middle of a tirade against China - which also saw him execute a critical about-face by saying not pursuing a payroll tax cut, saying the economy is thriving and doesn't need an artificial infusion of cash.

The executive who once said that he 'alone' could fix the nation - and amplified a radio host's claim that he's 'second coming of God' and like the 'King of Israel' - insisted the bright rays of an early afternoon sun that he's the only one who can break Beijing of their bad trade practices.

'I am the chosen one,' he told reporters as he left for Kentucky. 'Somebody had to do it, so I’m taking on China. I’m taking on China on trade, and you know what? We’re winning.'

WNU Editor: I laughed when I saw this. But he does have a point. No other U.S. leader has stood up to China and its trade practices until now. I repeat. No one.

I love these quick press gaggles. Completely denies the media talkers their limelight - instead making them shout like children over the roar of Marine One - and bashes them mercilessly.

It annoys them greatly.

He gets out there sometimes. But...he's righted situations, the southern border for example, that should have been done decades ago.
He is quite a refreshing contrast to his predecesors[sp].
I keep recalling an interview before the election wherein some voter to be was asked why she was voting for hrc; she replied, and I quote, "Oh I like her. I like her ideas". I would have checked her eyes closely to see if she was brain dead despite standing unassisted.

It was a decent joke. From a negotiator's perspective it signals that he isn't getting too stressed out about having his name associated with the trade war. He can express frustration against "fake news" domestically since he's pretty much already won 2020, but he can't show any weakness to his Chinese counterparts.
