Reuters: Raising voter fears helped Trudeau to victory in Canada: sources
OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pulled off a second consecutive election win on Monday with a late change in tactics designed to scare progressive voters who showed signs of abandoning Liberal candidates, four Liberal campaign sources said.
As polls indicated he could lose, Trudeau ditched his “sunny ways” persona that had swept him to power in 2015 and started hammering away at three smaller parties on the left, warning their supporters that if they didn’t vote Liberal, the progressive vote would splinter and allow the opposition Conservatives to take power.
During the last two weeks of the campaign, Trudeau repeatedly told supporters that voting for the rival New Democrats, Bloc Quebecois and Greens would result in a progressive opposition, not a progressive government.

WNU Editor: Before the election I watched a few pundits on Canadian cable news laughing at this old Liberal tactic of scaring the voters by saying that the other party would essentially destroy their way of life. I did not laugh. It was remarkably effective, helped by the opposition not responding back as quickly as they should have. The Liberal campaign was also effective in playing the regions against each other. In Quebec the Prime Minister used the province's opposition to oil pipelines and Alberta's energy industry and fear of climate change to rally his base, and it worked in cities like Montreal. It unfortunately has alienated energy producing western provinces like Alberta and Saskatchewan who in the end did not elect one Liberal MP, and are currently furious with the Prime Minister.... Western anger was hot before Monday's election. Now it's molten (Rex Murphy, National Post). In vote rich Ontario, Prime Minister Trudeau played on people's fears that services and benefits would be cut, even though there is nothing like that in the opposition platform. But it worked, resulting in the re-election of almost all of their MPs. It should be said that the Liberals were not the only ones who were using fear-mongering in their campaign. The opposition parties had a few doozies of their own. But the Liberals were far more effective, and now they are in power for a few years. As for the future, the problem for the Liberals will be on how to govern. They have alienated a lot of people, and they have a history of not compromising. And fear-mongering tactics are not going to work for them in a minority government.

smart enough to know what to do...that also makes him a winner
The race was, as always, between the liberals and the Conservatives. Trudeau is a child with delusions of grandeur. Scheer is a shadow and his close ties to the US made him a liability. As for the people of the Western provinces, they still remember the beating Justin's father, Pierre, dealt out to Alberta's Premier, Peter Lougheed over the Oil.
Canadians tend to not vote people in, rather they vote them out when they have failed the people. The first time around Justin Trudeau got in for one reason only, his promise to legalize Marijuana and he certainly deserved to be knocked down a few pegs, but in favor of whom, Scheer? Don't think so.
We got the best option possible, a minority government that had better perform or be dumped and quickly.
We got no option at all.
Support Nazis at home
or
support Nazis in the Ukraine.
Either way, the Nazis were going to win.
We know what Nazi stands for.
We also know that the right is jam packed with them.
We know the Liberal Party of Canada supported Hitler before WW2 broke out. We also know that, after the war, they provided asylum for those, such as Freeland's granddad, who collaborated with them.
If the real left had caught them back then we may not this very day be supporting their Nazi descendants in Svoboda, Pravy Sektor and Azov.
The right supports this shit too. I never hear any of you complaining about it. Why - because white supremacy, fuedalism and national victimhood mythology, such as that promoted by the Ukie Banderite thugs, is all the rage on the right. Like is attracted to like.
Proud Boy = Azov.
The liberals don't care as long as there is money in it they don't have to work for - and "those people" show the proper level of gratitude for what good liberals have "done" for them. Freeland, as true believer, is a sorta exception. We'll see what happens if there is ever an investigation in Canada as to where the aid and IMF money ended up. Something tells me Galicia is more than just a province in the Ukraine; it's a policy.
Regardless,
Freikorps Nazis killed leftists. Emma Goldman being one.
Alt right historical history is for Troglodites - which almost rhymes with Trotskyites (see: talk left, act right) - funny that, eh?
So, yes, you have a Nazi problem but it is closer to home than you think.
babble babble...who won?
blah blah
No one wins on here.
It's been scorched earth since Day One.
No quarter asked.
None given.
Bash the fasc.
And if a bull had not tits, you would be in deep shit Bob.
Think about that one.
I am sure it is a poser for you being convinced of your wisdom and education yet having nothing of either.
Well you got me on that one junior. What are "not tits".
It was a typo. What I meant to write was "no tits".
You do understand how evolution and genetics work don't you?
Maybe not. You said your education was modest, but in all honesty I think your education was and is very much sub par.
I'll bet he understands that the engineers at ASCE know more about infrastructure than you do.
I'll be he understands that liberals = conservatives = libertarians = Nazis
=
USSR winning WW2
I'll bet he understands that Krupp, Porshe etc were not nationalized - let alone convicted.
You make a great Nazi. You have projection down pat.
Bullshit - not tits - even better.
