Politico: Top U.S. envoy ties Trump directly to Ukraine quid pro quo
William Taylor’s testimony provides some of the most damaging evidence yet in the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry.
The top U.S. envoy to Ukraine told House impeachment investigators on Tuesday that President Donald Trump sought to withhold critical military aid to Ukraine and refuse a White House meeting with the country’s president unless he pursued politically motivated investigations into Trump’s rivals.
The diplomat, William Taylor, painted a damaging portrait of events that directly tied Trump to a quid pro quo with Ukraine, according to his prepared remarks obtained by POLITICO and his responses to questions as described by sources in the room for the closed-door testimony.

WNU Editor: Republicans who were present during this testimony are saying that contrary to media reports, there was no such claim made by this former U.S. diplomat to Ukraine (see below tweet). This is why this impeachment investigation is a scam. All testimony is behind closed doors. Only Democrats have access to the transcripts. And the media is only reporting on leaks from the committee that I can only presume come from the Democrats themselves. These transcripts should be released immediately.

I just cannot believe the dishonesty of some in this government. These stunts remind me of classes decades ago in school where we were exposed to communist tactics and how they had used and were using deception and false news among other tactics to overcome governments.
Never in my life could I have ever imagined the depths to which some politicians have stooped. Never.
If I had children and they behaved like this I would consider myself a failure as a parent.
I would not be surprised to see talk of secession by some states. We have seen the beginnings of a possible split in California.
I'm hearing that none of these witnesses (NOT ONE) has provided the testimony the Dems are masturbating to. Its been a succession of what happened with the Corey Lewandowski 'smile trials'.
Which is why the Dems are doing this in their star-chamber basement. They learnt their lesson by the ass that Nadler was made of when they did it live.
The closed door is so they can control the narrative with fake leaks. If the leaks are proven false in later news cycles, the Democrats hope the negative drumbeat of bad news will depress polls, depress the Republican bases and panic elected Republicans and that the leaks being fake will be forgotten by enough people.
As much as the Russians like infighting in America, do the Russian really want an unstable nuclear power a few thousand warheads headed up by a psychopathic party, the Democrats who lie lie to achieve power at any cost and will lie to everyone including themselves with their vision and reality are at odds.

In addition, there is usually some highly classified materials that get discussed and so the hearing are not public at this point...what they end up with will be public. Wait then till then before making dumb comments that show no awareness of how such things always take place.

Donald Trump launched a relatively lackluster attack on Wednesday morning against the impeachment inquiry into his dealings with Ukraine and the devastating testimony on Capitol Hill the previous day of the most senior US diplomat in Kyiv, Bill Taylor.
Unlike some of his aggressive and fiercely personal attacks on opponents, the US president appeared to be struggling early Wednesday in any attempt to discredit the explosive account given by Taylor – a career diplomat who discussed his role in detail with secretary of state Mike Pompeo earlier this year before accepting the post of acting ambassador to Ukraine.
Taylor’s opening statement, obtained by the Washington Post, confirms that the U.S. planned to withhold military and financial aid from Ukraine if the country didn’t assist the U.S. in its investigations into 2016 election interference. This might not be great diplomacy, but it isn’t illegal — the investigation into election interference is a legitimate government operation which, due to its nature, is somewhat dependent on foreign cooperation.
Forcing Ukraine to investigate Trump’s political rival, however, is another matter entirely, and one that lies at the center of Taylor’s testimony.
