U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy Endorses Impeachment Inquiry Into President Biden

FOX News: McCarthy to green light Biden impeachment inquiry this week

McCarthy will tell House Republicans impeachment inquiry against Biden is the 'logical next step' for their investigations

Fox News Digital has confirmed House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., will tell House Republicans today that beginning an impeachment inquiry against President Biden is "the logical next step."

The House GOP conference plans to hold a meeting on Thursday morning for key committee chairs to lay out their latest findings and the status of the investigations into the Biden family.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., are expected to lead Thursday's meeting.

Will US President Biden Be Impeached By A Republican Congress?

US President Biden and son Hunter Biden

NYPost: Stefanik: Biden impeachment ‘on the table’ for Saudi oil ask, Hunter biz

WASHINGTON — Upstate Rep. Elise Stefanik, the No. 3 House Republican, has said GOP lawmakers could move to impeach President Biden next year after investigating his family’s foreign consulting businesses and his “illegal” request that Saudi Arabia delay oil production cuts until after the Nov. 8 midterm elections.

“When there’s an egregious abuse of power and high crimes and misdemeanors, that means anything is on the table,” Stefanik told The Post Monday, adding that the White House’s admitted request that the Saudi-led OPEC+ cartel delay oil output cuts until after Americans vote was a “very egregious, inappropriate and illegal action by the president.”

WNU Editor: The standards for impeachment were set by the Democrats in 2019 when they impeached President Trump, and those standards are low.

But I do not think the Republicans will move to impeach President Biden. What they will do if they win Congress is to start investigations into the Biden administration, issue subpoenas, and demand answers.

And it is not going to be like the past when subpoenas were issued and officials refused to show-up. A new precedent has been set with the conviction and soon to be imprisonment of Steve Bannon, a longtime adviser to Donald Trump who defied a subpoena from the Jan. 6 select committee.

My prediction.

When all has been said and done, these Congressional hearings into the Biden administration will be the excuse for President Biden to say that due to health reasons he will not run in 2024, and the media narrative will be on why should Congress investigate and impeach a US President when he will not run again. There is also a very good chance that he will not finish his term, resigning from office due to health reasons and ending any serious probe and/or impeachment.

Shock Poll: Half Of U.S. Voters Want President Biden Impeached!

U.S. President Biden

The National Pulse: Half of America Already Wants Joe Biden Impeached

A national survey of likely US voters has found that 50 percent support impeaching Joe Biden after just one year in office.

The Rasmussen Report sponsored by The National Pulse was conducted in January, and asked a collective of likely US voters whether they would side with Republicans in Congress who have endorsed articles of impeachment against the current U.S. President.

Fifty percent of respondents stated they somewhat or strongly support impeaching Biden, with the remainder of respondents either stating they were unsure or that they oppose impeaching the current president.

When broken down by demographic, men and women were equal in their response to support an impeachment of Biden. Those aged 40-65+ had a slightly stronger support than those aged 18-39. All racial demographics were united in their response.

Almost 50 percent of White respondents agreed with impeaching Biden, 50 percent of Black respondents, and more than 50 percent of other racial minorities are in favor of impeachment.

Update: 50% Support Biden’s Impeachment (Rasmussen)

WNU Editor: A large sample sized was used for this poll. But what is shocking about this poll result is that a good portion of the Democrat base now support impeaching the President. More specifically .... 50% of Black voters, 58% of other non-white voters and, 34% of Democrat voters.

Will A Republican Congress Impeach U.S. President Biden In 2023?

Daily Mail: Ted Cruz says Republicans will IMPEACH Biden over his 'refusal to enforce the border and defy immigration laws' if they win back the House in 2022 after Democrats 'weaponized' the investigations against Trump

* Cruz put Republicans' odds of winning back the House at the end of this year at 90% or 'even higher than that' on the latest episode of his podcast

* The Texas senator accused Democrats of wielding impeachment as a 'cudgel'

* House Democrats voted to impeach Trump twice, once just before he left office

* He predicted that House Republicans will not only have 'multiple grounds' to impeach Biden but that they'll be under 'enormous pressure' to do so

Republican lawmakers will be under 'enormous pressure' to impeach President Joe Biden if they take back the House of Representatives in this year's midterm elections, Texas Senator Ted Cruz said on the latest episode of his podcast.

On The Verdict With Ted Cruz, the southern Republican accused Democrats of 'weaponizing' impeachment against twice-impeached former President Donald Trump.

Asked about whether his colleagues in the House will respond in kind, Cruz said: 'I do think theres a chance of that. Whether it's justified or not, Democrats weaponized impeachment.'

U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Says President Biden Will Not Be Impeached

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Ky. addresses the audience at the Kentucky Farm Bureau Ham Breakfast at the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville, Ky., Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021. He said President Biden 'is not going to be removed from office,' despite a wave of Republicans calling for his impeachment after the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan

Daily Mail: Mitch McConnell says Biden WON’T be impeached over his disastrous Afghan exit and the bombshell Ghani call and believes the ‘ballot box’ is the best way to hold him accountable

* McConnell said Biden 'is not going to be removed from office'

* He spoke after a wave of House Republicans called for Biden's impeachment

* 'I think the way these behaviors get adjusted in this country is at the ballot box'

* McConnell said in 2019 there was 'no chance' Donald Trump would be removed from office

* Republicans fumed Wednesday after leaked transcript revealed Biden where he counseled Ghani about a 'perception' problem

* 'Whether it is true or not, there is a need to project a different picture,' he told him, according to a transcript from a call weeks before the fall of the government

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell threw cold water on growing Republican calls to impeach President Joe Biden, saying Wednesday there isn't going to be one in the Senate.

McConnell, who also sought to douse impeachment efforts in the Senate against President Donald Trump (there were two of them) spoke as a number of House Freedom Caucus members have demanded Biden's impeachment following the chaotic pullout from Afghanistan after the all of the U.S.-backed government.

But McConnell said the effort would be futile. 'Well, look the president is not going to be removed from office,' he said Tuesday.

WNU Editor: I know the votes are not there because the Democrats will not sign on into doing this. But if former President Trump can get impeached for having a phone call with the Ukraine President on investigating the corruption of the Biden family, you would think that since the Democrats have put the bar for impeachment that low, why not impeach President Biden.

Will There Be A 9/11-Style Commission To Investigate U.S. Capitol Building Attack?

With the impeachment trial in the rearview mirror, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are calling for the creation of a congressional commission to investigate the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, though Democrats are still more focused on former President Donald Trump’s role in inciting the mob than Republicans.

WNU Editor: I would like to know more details on what happened. For example .... what did House Speaker Nancy Pelosi know before the attack happened? What did the mayor of Washington DC know? Was there political interference to not deploy more security before the attack?

But this is not going to happen. If this a commission is approved, its scope will be limited to President Trump and not on anyone else.

If Republicans Win Back The House In 2022 Will They Impeach Vice President Kamala Harris?

 * Sen. Lindsey Graham argued former President Donald Trump's second impeachment trial set a bad precedent
 * 'If you use this model, I don't know how Kamala Harris doesn't get impeached if the Republicans take over the House,' Graham said
 * The South Carolina Republican said Harris was in danger because she 'actually bailed out rioters,' pointing to her support of a Minnesota-based bail fund
 * Trump's lawyer made similar arguments Saturday going as far to say that the MAGA mob was actually inspired by the summer's Black Lives Matter protests
 * 'It was month after month of political leaders and media personalities, bloodthirsty for ratings, glorifying civil unrest,' said Michael van der Veen
 * Graham also called Trump the 'most potent force' in the Republican Party and said Lara Trump would win her GOP Senate primary if she decided to run

Sen. Lindsey Graham said former President Donald Trump's second impeachment trial set such a bad precedent that House Republicans, if they retake the majority, will go after Vice President Kamala Harris for her Black Lives Matter support.

'If you use this model, I don't know how Kamala Harris doesn't get impeached if the Republicans take over the House, because she actually bailed out rioters and one of the rioters went back to the streets and broke somebody's head open,' Graham told Chris Wallace on 'Fox News Sunday.'

WNU Editor: Using the same standard that the Democrats applied to former President Trump, a case could be made to impeach Vice President Harris even if there is no chance of her being convicted by the US Senate. An unfortunate precedent has been set with Donald Trump, and there is a very good chance that we are going to see more of this procedure in the future. But it is not going to happen to Vice President Harris. Bottom line. The Republicans are not going to do to her what the Democrats did to President Trump.

Schumer and Pelosi Attack Senators Who Voted To Acquit Donald Trump As Political Cowards and Shills

There was a palpable sense of relief in Washington as the Trump trial came to a chaotic but final end.  The verdict is in so now the vilification can begin. Both Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Speaker Nancy Pelosi immediately weaponized the verdict and demonized those who voted to acquit. While the Democrats insisted that all senators should “vote their conscience” that only meant if their conscience supported their side. Pelosi denounced opposing senators as cowards while Schumer lashed out at them for holding an opposing view of the evidence or the process. While groups are targeting members on both sides of the trial, our leaders should be calling for unity and civility after the trial. Instead, they are fueling the politics of division.

WNU Editor: So much for President Biden's call for unity.

No Trump Censure After Impeachment Acquittal

After the Senate voted to acquit former President Trump, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Saturday ruled out censuring the former president — an idea that several Republicans had floated in recent days.

“Censure is a slap in the face of the Constitution. It lets everybody off the hook, it lets everybody off the hook,” Pelosi told reporters following the Senate impeachment trial at the Capitol.

The Senate voted to acquit President Donald Trump in his impeachment trial Saturday as the vast majority of Republicans held together against a charge that he incited the Capitol riot of January 6.

After a roll call vote of the Senate, 57 senators voted to convict, with 43 senators voting to acquit. It wasn't enough to meet the two-thirds threshold set out in the Constitution.

A total of seven Republicans voted to convict; two of them have announced they are retiring at the end of their terms.

WNU Editor: I expected 6 Republicans were going to vote to impeach. Senator Sasse and Senator Burr were a surprise.

Some Democrats Now Want To Suspend Trump's Impeachment Trial

Daily Mail: Democrat Senator says Trump's impeachment trial should be SUSPENDED so they can depose Kevin McCarthy over furious riot phone call and Tommy Tuberville over claims the president knew Pence was in danger

 * Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, a Rhode Island Democrat, proposed suspending Trump's impeachment trial
 * He called for depositions of Senator Tommy Tuberville and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy * Both reportedly had conversations with Trump during on January 6 about conditions in the Capitol riot
 * CNN reported Friday that Trump and McCarthy engaged in an expletive-laced shouting match during the riot * McCarthy told Trump he needed to rein in his supporters and said they were breaking his windows

A Senate Democrat has called for the suspension of Donald Trump's impeachment trial in order to depose Senator Tommy Tuberville and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy about their conversations with the former president during the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, a Rhode Island Democrat and one of the 100 jurors in the trial, issued the call in a tweet late on Friday, one day before the trial was expected to conclude in an acquittal.

'Tomorrow just got a lot more interesting,' Whitehouse wrote, referring to reports that McCarthy lambasted Trump in an expletive-laden diatribe telling him to call off his mob of loyalists, and following Tuberville's admission that he told Trump that Vice President Mike Pence was being evacuated from the Senate.

How Many People Are Watching The Impeachment Trial?

House lead impeachment manager Rep. Jamie Raskin begins the managers’ opening argument in the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, on charges of inciting the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol, on the floor of the Senate chamber on Capitol Hill in Washington, February 10, 2021. U.S. Senate TV/Handout via Reuters

Those empty seats in the Senate chamber on Thursday? They are emblematic of the public's reaction to the second Trump impeachment trial.

If you've been glued to every minute of the trial, or even just half-watching the proceedings, then you're part of a special club. You're learning the full story of the crimes that were committed at the Capitol on January 6. But you are much more plugged-in than the average American adult.

The Nielsen TV ratings for the first two days of trial coverage show that only a sliver of the public is watching at any given time. The ratings for CNN and MSNBC are way up -- and the ratings for Fox News are much weaker. Some people are also watching coverage via the broadcast networks, but not in huge numbers.

WNU Editor: I have watched or heard much of the impeachment trial this week. I have one of my monitors running non-stop covering the trial, and I estimate I have watched/heard about 80% of the entire proceedings.  Is the American public glued to what is happening as much as I am? I doubt it.

Democrats Openly Talking About Invoking The 14th Amendment to Ban Former President Trump From Running For Office For Life

Article of impeachment against former president Trump delivered to Senate, Feb. 2, 2021.

Virginia's Sen. Tim Kaine has been at the forefront of the 14th Amendment push

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer Thursday did not rule out bringing legislation to bar former President Donald Trump from office if he is not convicted at the ongoing Senate impeachment trial.

Democratic senators have discussed in recent weeks that if they cannot secure the 67 votes needed to convict Trump -- and bar him from holding office in a subsequent simple-majority vote -- that they might invoke the 14th Amendment of the Constitution to do the same.

Schumer, D-N.Y., was asked about the possibility in a press conference ahead of the impeachment trial proceedings Thursday. "We're first going to finish the impeachment trial and then Democrats will get together and discuss where we go next," Schumer replied.

WNU Editor: This is how nations like Russia, Venezuela, Iran, and others handle political leaders that they do not want to run for office. They pass a bill banning them for life.

But no one should be surprised that the Democrats now want to dictate to the opposition party on who should be their next Presidential candidate in 2024. And they will have bipartisan support.

The Democrats and many establishment Republicans do not want former President Trump to run for office again. They know too well that if the economy does not improve and the social unrest continues, coupled with the pandemic that some health experts are now predicting may be with us for years, there is then a very real possibility that President Trump may run again. With a base of 75 million people who voted for him 2020, they know too well that anything will then be possible.

Rand Paul engineered a strategy that put all but six GOP senators on the record saying former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial is unconstitutional.

And even after visceral new footage of the Jan. 6 insurrection rattled fellow Republicans, he’s feeling pretty good about Trump’s whip count. “There will be at least 44. Or more. I think we might get one or two back on acquittal,” Paul (R-Ky.) said in an interview.

Previously unseen security videos showed the view from inside the Capitol as rioters smashed windows and fought with police on Jan. 6, coming within 100 feet (30 m) of the room where Pence was sheltering with his family. The mob had set up a gallows outside.

U.S. Senate Votes 56-44 That Impeaching A Former President Is Constitutional

 * The Senate will move forward with its trial against Donald Trump on Wednesday
 * The upper chamber voted 56-44 on Tuesday evening that impeaching a former president is constitutional
 * Six Republicans joined the 50 Democrats in deciding to progress the proceedings forward, despite Trump's almost assured acquittal in the Senate
 * Those who voted with Democrats were Republican Senators Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Mitt Romney , Ben Sasse of Nebraska, Pat Toomey and most surprising of all, Bill Cassidy
 * Cassidy previously agreed with Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and 43 other Republicans that impeaching an official who is no longer in office is against the Constitution
 * The second impeachment trial against Donald Trump kicked off with Democrats playing a video about the January 6 MAGA riot at the Capitol, focusing on the violence and featuring Trump's words
 * 'You ask what a high crime and misdemeanor is under our constitution? That's a high crime and misdemeanor,' Lead impeachment manager Jamie Raskin said
 * Trump attorney Bruce Castor started off his defense of the former president with a rambling soliloquy that veered between name-dropping senators and flattery
 * 'You know, senators of the United States, they are not ordinary people. There are extraordinary people in the technical sense, extraordinary people,' Castor said
 * Trump will take a break from golfing this week to closely follow his second impeachment trial on TV from his Mar-a-Lago residence
 * The trial could run straight through the weekend – with a potential conviction vote on Monday; Trump is expected to be acquitted
 * Trump was put off when Castor tipped his hat to the Democratic managers' presentation, calling it 'well done'

President Donald Trump was set off by the defense mustered by his legal team at the start of his Senate impeachment trial, raging at key admissions and a presentation that appeared to drive away a key Republican vote.

Trump, viewing the proceedings from his new home at Mar-a-Lago, was aghast that one of his lawyers, Bruce Castor, acknowledged the potency of the opening argument put forward by House Democratic impeachment managers, ABC News reported.

Castor even acknowledged that his team changed course after viewing the Democrats' presentation, which featured dramatic video of Trump supporters storming the Capitol and taunting police officers with obscenities as they bashed in doors and windows.

Anti-Trump Republican Senators And Democrat Senators Drafting A Censure Resolution To Bar Former President Trump From Holding Office Again

Sens. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) are forging ahead with a draft proposal to censure former President Trump, and are considering introducing the resolution on the Senate floor next week.

Why it matters: Senators are looking for a way to condemn Trump on the record as it becomes increasingly unlikely Democrats will obtain the 17 Republican votes needed to gain a conviction, Axios Alayna Treene writes.

"I think it’s important for the Senate's leadership to understand that there are alternatives," Kaine told CNN on Wednesday. "If we can’t get to 67 votes for impeachment, there may be another way to hold President Trump accountable."

WNU Editor: The votes are not there to impeach the former President. So the scramble now is to make sure that former President Trump does not run for office again. Are there enough Republican senators who are willing to go down that road? We know that five Republican Senators will vote for impeachment and/or censure. Are there five more? In my opinion it will be close. But if ten Republican senators decide do go down this road, the Republican Party IMHO is going to lose a good part of its base and will become like the Republican party in California. A minority party for the next few generations.

Senators were sworn in as jurors to President Trump’s impeachment trial Tuesday as the Senate voted 55-45 to end debate on Sen. Rand Paul’s point of order arguing that the impeachment trial is unconstitutional now that Trump is out of office.

They voted with all 50 Democrat senators to table the point of order. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has indicated he has an open mind on whether Trump should be convicted, voted against ending debate.
