Because some take corruption to new heights?

All along, I've been wondering two things: why was this phone call enough to make a combat veteran visibly shaken, and where was the Macguffin. But it was more and more clear that this wasn't just a matter of which political side was winning, because while politics might make you mad, they don't generally make you scared.

Now things start to stack up. We've seen that Vindman has close ties to the previous Ukrainian government, dating back to Yanukovych and his successor Petro Poroshenko, while this alleged money-laundering scheme was taking place. The connection to the Franklin Templeton Fund is interesting because John Templeton, Jr. was a major Obama campaign donor, and Thomas Donilon, who was Obama's National Security Advisor before Susan Rice and is now the chairman of BlackRock Investment Institute, a major owner of Franklin Templeton stock.

Gordon Sondland, the American ambassador to the E.U., delivered explosive testimony in the House impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump on Wednesday. Here are some of his best lines:

1. "I know that members of this committee have frequently framed these complicated issues in the form of a simple question: Was there a 'quid pro quo'? With regard to the requested White House call and White House meeting, the answer is yes."

Let our news meet your inbox. The news and stories that matters, delivered weekday mornings.

2. "We followed the president's orders.”

"Secretary Perry, Ambassador Volker and I worked with Mr. Rudy Giuliani on Ukraine matters at the express direction of the president of the United States. We did not want to work with Mr. Giuliani. Simply put, we were playing the hand we were dealt."

3. "Everyone was in the loop. It was no secret" — on how Pence, Pompeo, Bolton and others were aware of his efforts in Ukraine.

4. "That's how the president and I communicate, a lot of four-letter words. In this case, three letter." — recalling telling Trump that Zelenskiy "loves your ass," Sondland said that sounded like something he would say.

5. "I know exactly what it means ... I didn't know at the time." — that investigating Burisma also meant probing the Biden family.

6. "He didn't actually have to do them, as I understood it." — on whether Zelenskiy needed to follow through on carrying out the investigations into the Bidens and the 2016 election after publicly announcing them.

7. "Mr. Giuliani’s requests were a quid pro quo for arranging a White House visit for President Zelenskiy. Mr. Giuliani demanded that Ukraine make a public statement announcing investigations of the 2016 election/DNC server and Burisma. Mr. Giuliani was expressing the desires of the President of the United States, and we knew that these investigations were important to the President."

I recall your form of debate a year ago when thaty broke was the kindergarten argument of "Smell it." That passes for good Parrot debate form.

This morning, Sondland appeared under oath before the congressional committee exploring impeachment, and effectively flipped, directly implicating the president and top members of Team Trump in the extortion scheme. At that point, the president’s line on the ambassador evolved a bit more:

“I don’t know him very well. I have not spoken to him much. This is not a man I know well. Seems like a nice guy, though, but I don’t know him well. He was with other candidates; he actually supported other candidates, not me. Came in late.”

As a rule, when Trump stops to speak with reporters on the White House South Lawn, he isn’t carrying anything. Today, however, the president carried some visible handwritten notes, though his comments referring to his relationship with Sondland appeared to be extemporaneous.

Nevertheless, the problem with Trump’s latest line is that it’s literally unbelievable.

Circling back to our earlier coverage, we know the president had some important phone conversations with the ambassador. We know the president praised Sondland on Twitter. We even know that the Republican donor, who reportedly gave $1 million to the president’s inaugural committee, is one of “a small cadre of ambassadors who enjoy direct and frequent access to Trump.”

Lapides do you really believe everything you say?

Instead, the Republicans took great comfort in Sondland’s admission that “Trump never told me directly that the aid was conditioned on meetings,” even though he also said “it was abundantly clear there was a link” and no other credible explanation for the aid holdup has ever emerged. Republicans also continued to pretend that Trump did nothing wrong because, after the whistleblower came forward, Trump said, “I want nothing” and the aid to Ukraine — though not a White House meeting — was finally delivered. Republicans are convinced that 2+2=22.

It was as though Republicans had demanded of Dean: Did you hear Nixon order the Watergate break-in? Did Nixon ever explicitly say that he wanted you to commit “obstruction of justice”? Did Nixon succeed in stopping the investigation? And then used Dean’s negative answers to exonerate Nixon. What we are learning is that it’s much easier to document a president’s crimes than to get his party to give a damn.

Some pushed for a public hearing into the impeachment process. Strongly criticized the House for not going public. Then they got what they wanted, a public hearing, on now it is beginning to look more like the actual "trial" that is to be held in the Senate, eventually. And Tump is looking as guilty as hell.

When it gets to the Senate I have no doubt that the Republicans will circle the wagons and give Trump complete support. That is except that a number of them will get the flue or something and, regretfully be unable to attend. Enough to convict, maybe, hopefully.

Should Trump get a pass I hope the House will begin another impeachment process regarding emoluments.

The House will impeach. the Senate will do nothing. The election will decide when votes are in..we may have a continuing standoff, ie divided govt; or we may clean out the stable and boot the GOP...if that is the case, Southern District of NY will go after Trump. The GOP will have to try to reconstitute itself

That the boycotts have worked?

That liberals are targeting religious groups?

That what liberals preach is literally killing people?

If what I post is true, I have no need to shake my head.

Which is why I asked you to refute anything I wrote point by point.

It is interesting that you qualified you response with "if".

I wrote "if", because other might challenge it out of ignorance, they believe differently or they are prick trolls. I suspect you are the last case.

If you believe differently, you could present a case. In which case I would present a rebuttal.

You have not argued against it, so I can going to go with that what I have posted is true.
