I have no doubt that Trump will go through with this. Right now he needs all the "people" support he can get. It always a good time to demonstrate your ability to forgive, to go easy on offenders when you are about to face the music yourself.
Personally I believe it is the higher ups that should take the heat when a soldier goes berserk and commits a war crime especially when there is no valid reason to be there in the first place.
What it comes down to is, are you a law abiding country or not. It is not always an easy question to answer.
" when there is no valid reason to be there in the first place."
"At the invitation of the Iraqi Government, on 15 June 2014 President Obama ordered dozens of United States troops to Iraq in response to offensives by ISIL"
The guy, who was posed-with, could have raped 15 women, bayonetted 3 babies, and strangled 5 kids. And yet you would have a problem with someone posing with his corpse.
Says a lot about you Bob and none of it good.
When a soldier goes berserk, you get him treatment and lock-up one Democrat congressman, 10 Antifa members and 3 alt-Left or state-sponsored internet trolls.

Obama screwed up badly regarding Iraq. The US went into Iraq illegally and as a result owns (and still owns) ISIS, courtesy of a Republican President Bush. Obama failed to accept and deal properly with his responsibilities regarding the horrors he inherited, including ISIS.
"When a soldier goes berserk, you get him treatment ..." and you then should be questioning a number of decisions you made including the decision to create a war(s) in the first place and for sure your recruitment policies.
Did you read this by the way?

Bring back the flamethrower tanks!
Iraq broke the armistice. Therefore a state of war existed.
Having a picture with a corpse near you is not a war crime.
Get over yourself Bob.
Well you are making progress Bob.
Congratulations, you admit that Iraq broke the armistice.
In other news I hear Iran is not paying some of their militias. Could a pay cut becoming for you too?
