U.S. Speaker Pelosi Says What President Trump Has Done Is Worse Than Nixon And Watergate

NBC: 'Evidence of bribery': Pelosi comments on impeachment hearing

The speaker said what Trump did with Ukraine makes Nixon's Watergate conduct look 'almost small' by comparison.

WASHINGTON — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Thursday that the testimony presented by two career U.S. diplomats at the first House impeachment hearing a day earlier had presented evidence of bribery committed by President Donald Trump.

"The devastating testimony corroborated evidence of bribery uncovered in the inquiry and that the president abused power and violated his oath by threatening to withhold military aid and a White House meeting in exchange for an investigation into a political rival," Pelosi told reporters.

WNU Editor: I have watched more than my share of news conferences, but the one with the House Speaker this morning was a strange one. She was reading from a script that had no bearing to what happened yesterday, starting with her promise to pass the new North American trade deal as soon as possible. You would think that impeaching a U.S. President would be the only topic discussed, but it was not today. Even her claim in front of the press corps that what Trump did with Ukraine makes Nixon's Watergate conduct look 'almost small' by comparison fell flat. They were not buying it. And speaking of the media and their coverage of yesterday's testimony, this morning it was covered only slightly. I would think that after building up this story for the past week there would now be wall to wall coverage from all the major networks, but it did not happen. Bottom line. If Nancy Pelosi and her allies want to build a case that President Trump must be impeached, they will need more time because it is not working.

"starting with her promise to pass the new North American trade deal as soon as possible"

Another indicator that impeachment is a bust and Miss Nancy wants so bipartisan legislative accomplishment.

Not sure what and where you read but I am inundated with lreports on the first day. "they are not buying it"--do you mean You are not buying it? who, then, is the "they" the GOP? the American public? and then this just in:

The July 26 call between Trump and Gordon Sondland was first described during testimony Wednesday by William B. Taylor Jr., the acting U.S. ambassador to Ukraine. Taylor said one of his staffers overhead the call while Sondland was in a Kyiv restaurant the day after Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that triggered the House impeachment inquiry.

The second diplomatic staffer also at the table was Suriya Jayanti, a foreign service officer based in Kyiv. A person briefed on what Jayanti overheard spoke to AP on condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter currently under investigation.

What is an 'lreport'?

Who cares. You just posted to console yourself.

name calling= CHUD!
In his testimony during the first public hearing of the impeachment inquiry, Taylor relayed that one of his staffers, David Holmes, overheard the call in which Trump expressed a keen an interest in launching a sham investigation against the Bidens.

As experts told the Washington Post, it is extremely unsafe in general to hold such calls over unencrypted cellphone lines, and all the more in a country infiltrated by Russian intelligence.

If the major news outlets aren't reporting on the first day session, and given the outcome of that session, it is likely they are disappointed the Republicans failed to shut the inquiry down with their illogical "defense". Alternatively, they see it as a done deal and await the opportunity to report on the lack of honesty and integrity that the GOP is likely to display in the Senate when they free Trump of the charge.

Face it. given that even Trump admitted to what he did, although, it is likely he doesn't understand what Quid Pro Quo means, nor, the serious implications of what he did, versus what Biden "did".

Just look at the little trolls twist and squirm.

Wow, that was really lame Bob. I hope or you sake that your trolling is a hobby and not a job.

Apple does not fall far from the tree.

I've been around the block and those of us that have know that his mother's influence and position secured these deals for him.

Unless you have a tape recording, you ain't going to prove a thing.

I know a corporation, where the the sons and daughters of senior executives cannot be employed, so as to avoid nepotism. At this Fortune 100 corporation an HR VP retired. The day after he retired, he went back to the business and walked his kid's resume/application through HR and the kid was hired.

This whole process had no email or paper trail. It was all word of mouth.

Miss Nancy only has an IQ of 90 or 100, but she is smart enough to do many things by world of mouth and not leave a paper trail.

In a court of law it is what you can prove not what you know. Denzel says this very well in "Training Day".

But those of us, who are honest (sorry Bob), know that Miss Nancy is guilty.

It is good to know that Fred is using the word CHUD in name calling.

It gives some insight as to where is has been, what he has watched, and his thought processes.

I thought it was a twenty-something using that slur. But an English PhD and as often as he does? Just WOW!

What do you expect from the blue guy. The guy eschews further learning. Some scientists came up with a model l to explain sunspots. It works pretty good. Chances are it will make weather and climate forecasting more accurate. So we will have all these people here on Earth fighting internecine wars over the size of their slice of the science budget and lying to increase it and this news is going to come at them sideways.

Mann learned how to lie using stochastic processes. He does not begin to understand the sun modeling. The best he can hope for is to be a professor emeritus ( or is it former, retired prof?) or passed on to avoid the embarrassment at being shown to be incompetent or a con man.

I do not expect a blue non-STEM prof, who is a stick in the mud, to understand the power or application of computational methods or modeling. I just expect them to find a shaman and to treat that shaman's word as holy.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell faced criticism on social media for failing to act on gun control legislation after a shooting at a California high school Thursday that left two students dead and multiple others injured.

A 16-year-old gunman who police said opened fire at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California was custody Thursday afternoon, but few other details were available. However, people took to Twitter to blame the shooting on McConnell, claiming that it's possible the shooting could have been prevented if he helped facilitate the passing of gun control laws.

Lots of bubbly froth that will dry up into nothing, until moisture is introduced yet again the following day. So many scandals, lots of hype, then things get brought to bear, turns out that basic facts or total bullshit was overblown, and no one talks about it much again until the next anonymous source introduces yet another yeast infection and the histrionics and bubbly fervor erupt yet again.

M.P. if nothing there, then no need for worry and Trump appointees have no reason NOT to testify...you are judging nothing there and yet most of us wait to see and are not so sure as you are this early in public testimonies

Senior State Department officials appointed by President Donald Trump retaliated against a career employee because of her perceived national origin and political views based off allegations in a conservative media article, according to a report by the department's Office of Inspector General.

It's a pattern of behavior that echoes what happened to Marie Yovanovitch, the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine whose recall is part of the House impeachment inquiry.

The State Department IG began investigating five cases of career employees allegedly being penalized by Trump's appointees, after another review published in August found career employees were being harassed, mistreated and retaliated against in one of the department's bureaus.

Mathew,

The guy can't drive. He doesn't spell too well anymore. Logic isn't his strong suit. He is an echo chamber denizen. He's so blue as to almost never be honest. He is not worth really conversing with.

Not worrying, never said anything did or did not happen. I am just identifying a long and monotonous cycle of mostly nothing since even before day one. I am just pointing out that up until this point, there is just overwhelmingly more bullshit, scandals etc. then useful material to render any useful opinion on anything.

Regarding people not testifying, Dems are just looking to sit anyone down in a chair and have them belch words that they can then regurgitate into something out of context and with meaning not as intended to fuel yet another load of shit, and stoke a media whos bathing in its own fecal matter all day. Reference all previous scandals from Trump pee tapes, Mueller and Kavanaugh.

Question:
"M.P. if nothing there, then no need for worry and Trump appointees have no reason NOT to testify..."

GOOD Response:
"have them belch words that they can then regurgitate into something out of context and with meaning not as intended to fuel yet another load of shit"

Not worded like the country club set, but straight forward and true, if course.

The country club set of the Bushes failed. It is why we have Trump. Thank God.

nice try. no answer. there is the constitution. there is the House.
both sides can question. all under oath...thus: what you say is without meaning.

Anonymous said...

The House has no subpeona power in this case.

Anonymous said...

wrong

Separation of Powers

If the House formally votes for an Impeachment , then they can subpeona. Until then they have nothing except a clown circus.

There is precedent. They chose not to follow it.

All this 'inquiry' is , is a dog an d pony show used to advertise Democrats for election.

Remember the Rose Law Firm Records mysteriously appear after the Special counsel was timed out?

If you wanted to to make a point that "we" were wrong, all you did was remind "us" that there was obstruction by the Clintons. But all the matters is that you side got away with it.

If at some point you get old and begin wondering, don't waste your time unless you can pass a camel through the eye of a needle.

PS: When does a company, a law firm, allow an employee take the business records with them?

I worked for a Fortune 100 corporation. they never let me take their records with me when I retired.

Ultimately the wealthy look after their own through thick and thin no matter the party affiliation. They look after their own because they know they will all get attacked and go down if too many of them pay the price for basically illegal activities.

That is why control of the Supreme Court, Congress and the President is vitally important to them. In the process their minions put on a very good show that always falls short of actually delivering. They are of course aware of the value of throwing scraps to the peons every so often.

Sometimes however, and especially if the focuss of attention is on one of their own who has hurt some, or, even one of there number, they will, sometimes, see that person gets burned.

One thing is for sure and this applies to the rest of the population, those of the poor class, no matter what you do to promote a wealthy person(s) particularly in politics, when the chips are down, there is no support from the wealthy for you and you will end up sucking the hind tit.
