Reuters: At United Nations, U.S. faces strong opposition to its shift on Israeli settlements

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The United States on Wednesday defended itself at the United Nations against strong opposition from the European Union and other world powers to the Trump administration’s declaration that it no longer considers Israeli settlements to be in violation of international law.

Monday’s announcement by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reversed a four-decade-old U.S. position on Jewish settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. The move was welcomed by Israel but drew condemnation from Palestinians and Arab leaders.

At the United Nations, the U.S. policy shift came under fire from the EU and an array of Security Council members, including Russia and China.

I've never quite understood how you can be an occupier on your own land?

They keep saying it's illegal under international law, what law is that exactly, they never mention it, yet the mantra is repeated.

Before you reply and mention 4th Geneva Convention, you better have the correct name for the other High Contracting Party...!

It is disputed territory, nothing more..

This is one of the news stories where the reporting is extremely shallow, therefore it is difficult for the public to sort out all the noise and commotion. But looking at history, Europe and the world voted in the UN to create Isreal and Palenstine as two nations side by side, however the Palastinians soon tried to overrun Israel militarily and so lost their rights to that territory because they would continue to use their territory to work towards the destruction of Israel. My recall of the Palestinian people has been of airline hijackers, murderers, suicide bombers, and every other disgusting terrorist device by which terrorists wage war. The Palestinians also danced with joy when the Arab terrorists brought down the Twin Towers. So Fuck the Palastinians, the American people stand with Israel.

Given the same circumstances would the US have accepted a UN declaration dividing the land mass, currently known as the USA, into two sections, your part being the not so nice part, would you have given up or attacked ad infinitum?

Think of all the wars over there that might have been avoided, maybe, if the UN had decided to give the Isralies say, Utah.

Would you have accepted that?

Better that the UN had given the Jews Bavaria, rather than Utah!

Clearly written by someone who has never visited or understands what is contained in the "West Bank" region, which is near identical to the partition plan as it looked back then.

It is the high ground firstly.
Learn your geography.

More importantly, it contains all the religious sites in the Abrahamic faiths - this is the prize you miss and your ignorance evident...

Tel Aviv was swamp lands in the late 1800's, early 1900's, drained by the Jews and made habitable.

The shit area you talk about is falsely called the West Bank, it is in fact Judea and Samaria.

Jordan took it in 1948 as its easier to hold the high ground when they crossed West of the Jordan River - aka the West Bank.

To say or imply that the Arabs held the shit bit of land and this is why they launched attacks, is the height of ignorance.

You need to understand what the Tomb of Patriarchs is, and where its located. All the stories from Torah (old testament) are from Judea and Samaria, not the low lying coast land appointed to the Jews in the partition plan, that the Jews were willing to accept - at loss of all their religious sites dear to them.

Can you see your ignorance yet Bob?

The Arabs held the prize, they denied the Jews the links to their history and this was not enough, even when the Jews accepted the lesser part of the land.

So do me a favour and learn some history and geography before you offer your points and opinions on this topic again.

I know all stuff turkey but it does seem that if the Israelis are going to own the
USofA they should at least be required to live there, pay taxes and be available for the draft when and if it ever comes again.

You are a sorry one dimensional thinker.

I am a one dimensional thinker?

Hardly evident from one post, however, as pointed out and you agree, you sir, are an ignoramus.

Israelis owning America, just wow Bob, any other whacked out antisemitic theories you subscribe to?
