RT: Sleeping dragon no more: China about to replace US as strongest naval power and Washington is too late to stop it

China might soon shift the world naval balance and unseat the US as the modern master of the seas. The process appears to already be under way, and there is little that Washington can do about stopping it.

Visibly shaken by what it has seen on a photo showing just one of China's military shipyards near Shanghai, the business magazine Forbes recently told its readers an alarming story about the "impressive rate" and "vast scale" of Chinese naval modernization.

Update #2: Report to Congress on Chinese Naval Modernization (USNI News)

WNU Editor: I have been told by a contact that I trust in Beijing that China's ultimate goal is to have a 500 ship navy (this does not include its maritime militia). I do not know if this is possible, but their ship-building program is very aggressive.

It is probable that China is building its ships with the same quality control as they build their high-rise towers. I wonder how complete the crew training is. I wonder how many new friendly ports of call they have secured in "Blue Water".

Looks to me they are going with the Stalin model for their Navy, “Quantity has a quality all its own.”

But.... America will always lead in hyper-obese CHUDS.

CHUDS. God bless each and every one of us, regardless of how overweight we may be.

Quantity over quality...

Please stop the quality argument or "they don't know anything and just copy". That was sort of true 20 years ago but have you been to China lately? Makes the rest of the world look like the middle ages. China is a serious, serious military power..certainly top 3. Any hot war between the US and China will change the world forever..you can talk all you want, but I've been to China many times and to the US... Americans are delusional. all this talk about "we're number one" ..in what? In a few niches ok sure, but so are europeans and so are Asians and they are not involved in like 10 wars at the same time. This is insane. You keep waving the American flag without having travelled the World.. ignorance at its worst

Yes, shining communist jewels all. Putting the rest of the planet to shame. I guess the view is great in Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai. Provided you don't suffocate in the polluted police state that is China. Ever get out of the cites and into the rural areas? Likely not.

It’s a favorite pass-time of arrogant EuroCanadians to denigrate the US. To prognosticate our doom and hurl Insult. Quite rich from a group of nations who have surrendered to foreign invaders, Individually have economies in a fraction of ours and rely solely on the US for the their national defense. Because free healthcare and cradle to grave social benefits rule over everything else.

But back to China. They are a regional pariah. Their foreign policy is based on macro-financial coercion. They have no cultural allies. They have no global m supply chain. They are crippled by past social meddling by their totalitarian government. No reliable indigenous fuel resources. They are behaving identically to the Nazis of 80 years ago.

Other than thatbioa sweet place.

Do us Americans a favor, anon and just stay home. We have an over supply of America hating effete snobs hear already.

Russin,

I've always enjoyed your comments. I'm the one who called the FBI DOJ Trump presidency and all the fake stuff that followed years ago. The one who gave the little parrot his nick name. Trust me when I say what I wrote is true. And yes, I agree on the ethno state. I too called them out on that long long before you. This is not me saying China is the shit. .it's not ..fails in many many things. But please realise that the US isn't the shit either. I've been doing business around the world for over a decade now. I've been to more Chinese cities than you list and you left out quite a few important ones. Sure, pollution... agreed. I'm seeing it first hand. Again. .you misunderstand my point. I'm pro west. But. ..we have to wake up and be honest. Our systems are extremely corrupt and the US is constantly involved in wars. Is this not true? How many million did the US kill over the last 20 years? 2 million? 100,000/year sounds right? If we don't hold our own accountable the show is already over and we fight for the wrong team. Loving it means to be critical and not just wave the flag and call yourself no1. From a western european pint of view the US in the US is terrible..you have line 50% less vacation and time with your family. You're obese. You live longer only if you're rich. If you're below USD 200,000/year chances are you'll not be able to live beyond life expectancy of someone on 50,000 in Europe. Your school system is horrible. And again. ..all those wars..if you see someone killing pretty much everyone around you, is it really all the evil other nations? When will the number of countries you've bombed become high enough that you start to question things?or is everything you guys do ok? Then let's keep waving the flag and sing along. That's just what Nazi Germans did. Sieg heil ,no1! God is with you. Sound familiar? Ze Germans had it on their belt buckles. The islamists scream it too. That special country feeling. The unique and chosen people. maybe travel a bit more

A Dogbert argument if there ever was one.

Is the Western European pint of view the one Brits and Germans espouse after that have done a few 12 ounce curls?

Western Europe

Where France trains jihadis in its military

Where France censors the press from reporting unrest. Because if it is not reported, it didn't happen.

Where Denmark enacted border controls with the socialist Superpower Sweden because they do not want the problems of the Swedish Detroit/Beirut (Malmo) spilling over in to their capital city.

Where the German PM has been denounced by most of her intel chiefs as a Quisling.

Funny thing is, I read your post and it didn't come across at all showing China is the shit
But Russ has always been an idiot when it comes to posts like this. His pea size brain will automatically convert the post into some attack post and then sadly, he has to reply and look like a total asshat
Anon your post was logical and more of an eye opener to stupid Yankees like Russ. But now you can understand why most people stay silent when ignorance is presence because it is a waste of time.
Remember these 2 factors are killing the Yankees obesity and opiods.
I got no idea what Russ is even trying to gloat about because America is nothing to gloat about

Antitroll,

Russ is almost spot on.

I would disagree with Russ about their global supply chain.

I would also disagree somewhat about the pollution outside the cities. Chegndu looks nice enough. However pollution around large cities is not confined to the city itself but the metropolitan area and be quite huge affecting millions of people outside the city. It causes stuff like eye problems.

Russ is right about the NAZI aspect. They are not as much into that racial conformity thing, but the other aspects are there. I've been at the receiving end of it.

I see obesity in large part as being a liberal caused problem in the U.S. It is not hard to figure out why. Think Baltimore.

I also see obesity as a result of of success. That is the US is prosperous and the result is obesity epidemic, which will spike, be addressed and recede. Mexico has a greater obesity epidemic., They are relatively prosperous. They in turn will address it. The Mexicans will address it like the Americans and SW Indians. Culturally.

Opioid or opiods as you spell it epidemic is in part due to pain management, which many countries do not have because they do not have much medicine. That too is being addressed. Part of the problem is that the liberal square deal is 3 squares and no work. Meanwhile the liberal movers and shakers get really nice 3 square s and get to call shots. Those movers and shakers like Obama also say Those jobs are not coming back.

Antitroll you are here, because the level of argument that you offer does not reach the level that would get you invited back to the typical bar or McDonald's brunch. Sad.

Original Anon here who posted the lengthy reply to RussInSocal..

look again, we are picking teams, this is stupid..

let me explain.. when someone calls out Europe (I am from West Europe), and they are right - like that our military is terribly weak and doesn't help the US in reasonable missions - I salute the person who says it like it is. Europe too has many weaknesses. Let me sum up for you :) It's all about ideas and concepts, not teams... here the weaknesses I perceive (in "my team", and your "teams").. if you look beyond the team idea and realize we are all just people then you will see we can make progress easier...

so here the weaknesses:

USA: Too many wars and too many wrong wars (Vietnam for example, I've been there many times and you wouldn't meet nicer people.. and the Domino theory was wrong from the get go. human rights abuse and catastrophic bombings, deformations you still see to this day even with young people when you walk the streets of Saigon/HCMC). Too much pollution. Too obese. Too many people worship at the altar of money. And the previous "speak softly but carry a big stick" has just become "carry a big stick". And too many gun and other violent deaths (I know the knives in UK argument, but the numbers just aren't there.. across the country, adjusted for population, the US is a much more violent country).. LOUSY safety net, if any at all. If you fail in corporate America, you are dead (or poor, which is the same in the US.. you are shut out from most life, and in danger of dying young)

Europe and UK: Terrible integration of asylum and immigrants, forming cultural islands (beyond what you have in little Italy or China Town).. especially in France. Overburdened with regulation. Spineless leaders. Terribly communicated and executed vision of the Europe project. Too many knife deaths in UK (when we talk about the gun argument in the US, only fair to mention the knife deaths.. reasons here are slightly different though.. more immigration and poverty issues than e.g. mental insanity/anti depressant culture in the US, but here too on the rise, so I expect the murder shows to start over here, just like the US brought us other forms of "culture" ;)

Asia, incl. China, SE-Asia (excl. JP, NZ/AU)
- way too sexist still, and proper sexism not the "outrage sexism" in the US where the pendulum has swung far beyond and women use sexism now as a mechanism of power in many cases; ethno- cultures.. very non-diverse; lots of racism (again, more racism than you would imagine, where CNN spoon feeds you fake racism in the US, you have REAL racism there, where from blacks to whites people are hated on incl. in public, especially for blacks.. whites get a better deal usually wherever you go, except for maybe some African countries).. crazy pollution, where people are entirely uneducated on large quantities and poor oil right into the streets.. anything goes.. too many fake products and too LITTLE regulation (posing actual safety hazards, people dying left and right from terrible traffic, poor safety regulations and relatively bad hospitals - excluding major cities in China, and as said on top, excluding Taiwan, Japan from this, these are advanced nations in Asia.. China is very advanced too but on the country side you will not find the same medicine / support / safety regulations nor training like in the deepest country side of .e.g Germany / not even close)..

so if we just look at the problems (e.g. murders) we can see that the reasons are different for each nation and then discuss solutions.. so my post was really about that.. and maybe I sound now like BPoster, but I am not as "russia minded" like he was .. I see the bad (and good) in every country :D

The whole fat argument is by someone misguided, trolling, or has not applied a thorough analysis to it.

I regard the US fat argument stupid. Why don't you slice I dice it by age cohorts, ethnicity, income level, crime level, (city, suburban/rural) etc and then compare and contrast to other countries.

IMO the US will stabilize and the Western European level catch up to the US and pass it as the population shifts.

Having European relatives, it is always funny how Europeans like to bad mouth the Americans on say race and look at the problems they are having now in Europe. Delicious!

North Vietnam had a right to invade South Vietnam and put all those Buddhists and Roman Catholics in reeducation camps or shoot them?

Please defend that. Don't cry about the Muslims in China and ignore the religious persecution in Vietnam. It is unbecoming.

How did that communism work out? Not so well like in Russia, China, Cuba, Venezuela, Mozambique, Somalia, Angola, Nicaragua, etc. They sort of gave it up, but reserved the top spots for themselves.
