China Will Not Be Able To Meet Its Promise To Buy US$300bn Worth Of Goods From The U.S. In The Next Two Years

SCMP: China faces ‘huge challenge’ in living up to US trade promises as it ‘needs to buy US$300bn worth of goods in next two years’

* Beijing’s response reflects caution about possible missteps ahead while Americans give details of its pledges to boost imports
* Government adviser says Chinese appear less excited that the Americans about the ‘phase one’ agreement, which commit it to buying ‘lots more agricultural goods’

China has released fewer details about its trade deal with the US than the American side has – a sign of caution as one government adviser warned it would be a “huge challenge” for Beijing to live up to its commitments.

Observers said this reflected Beijing’s concern about possible mishaps ahead of a formal signing ceremony – which is expected to take place in January.

Initially the move to establish trade with China, back in the days of Reagan and Kissinger was about enabling the large corporations to manufacture stuff, Americans wanted to buy cheaply, at the cost of American jobs.

Bob
The only US investment in China during the Reagan era was NIKE. I know because I was there and I visited their plant in Fujian in 1988. The explosion in US investment and trade with China started in the 1990s when President Clinton permitted China to enter the WTO.

Thanks for making my point little guy, although, it does seem that you didn't actually comprehend the meaning of the word "initially".

The real problem is that it will be sold as a great victory. Will the people who know the truth about the deal be able to speak the truth? And will the people of the U.S. listen to the truth when they’re told about it?

Have a nice day, the law is very flexible and cannot always protect you, in order for it to work for you, you need to have a good advaocat who can protect your rights in any situation. And if you haven’t found a good lawyer yet, then you need to contact Paul Mankin.
